Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Very disappointed that Cedar Cove was cancelled. I was a faithful fan and was looking forward to season 4. Not fair that the story lines were all left up in the air. I hope they reconsider.
So sorry to see that Cedar Cove won’t be returning. I watched it faithfully every week. But…..I am also very disappointed that Hallmark decided to move their shows to the Sunday night spot. Sorry to say that I won’t be watching the shows now…..except to catch them ‘on demand’.
Don’t understand these networks not giving endings to their shows. They dont care about the loyal fans. At least bring it back to close story lines. I watched Dallas for years n years n show cancelled with no closure.
My husband and I are so unhappy about Cedar Cove being cancelled! The story lines were all left up in the air and that’s unfair to the faithful fans!
I loved Cedar Cove, the story line and the great characters that I looked forward to every week. I’m very disappointed. It would be nice if there was closure for all who enjoyed this show.
Great Scott! I was really enjoying this…. we’ve spent hours watching and now it’s going to be left unfinished. Great show and very disappointing to not have lose ends tied up.
I’m really disappointed with the series finale. It showed a profound disrespect for the viewers of the series who watched every episode expecting a story with a beginning, a middle, and an ending. But this is typical of networks making series to make money with no commitment to their viewers. I feel sorry for the cast who share in the unresolved content of their work. Hallmark — you owe your viewers a 2-hour finale that resolves all the major relationships you developed over 3 seasons. You dishonor yourselves and all who worked on this production — including all the cast… Read more »
Greg, thank you!!
Perfectly said and I agree 100%!
Hallmark, How do you get us hooked, then make a decision like that??? Please, end this series right, with a sound and HAPPY ending!! We’ve got enough grief in this world of ours..
we loved Cedar Cove please bring it back
I’m soooo disappointed that Cedar Cove is cancelled. I’ve been waiting to see when it was due to return. Bummer!!! It was a great show. I looked forward to watching it every week.
We loved cedar cove probably the most decent show that has been on in a long time. So very disappointed that it has been cancelled. Would love to at least see a two hour season finale movie to bring closure for so many fans.
Seriously after 3 seasons you just end the show with nothing. Atleast finish out what you started as a great show and do a finale.
Almost afraid to start watching Chesapeake Shores because of how they cancelled Cedar Cove. I don’t understand why. It was a wonderful show with lots of people I know watching it. Probably as soon as I get hooked on the new show, it will end just as abruptly. Sure hope not.
How about making a 2 hour movie to “finish” Cedar Cove for your LOYAL Viewers.
There was no closure; please consider your faithful viewers of TV which is not full of violence. Thank you.
Discouraging to watch, faithfully, a series for 3 seasons, then the next season is dropped with NO CLOSURE! Other Broadcasting companies have done the same thing with series. There is so much violence on TV, it is no wonder there are killings almost daily on the local News throughout the USA. Shows such as Cedar Cove, was enlightening and entertaining; I looked forward to this show every week. I see there was a new series was which started on Hallmark, 8/14/16. I chose not to get into “this show” for the same reasons as Cedar Cove. I do not like… Read more »
Julie – couldn’t have said it better myself.
The least they could do is have a finale. Makes me not want to bother with a new series because they’ll cancel as soon as I get hooked.
Loved this show and SO want it to come back. However, it seems Hallmark has turned another fantastic book series from Sheryl Wood into a TV series on Sunday nights called Chesapeake Shores. Caught the first episode by mistake last night and LOVED it. If you loved Cedar Cove give this one a try and let’s hope it stays on for along time to come.
