Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

There are so few shows out there that are even worth the time to watch an episode or two, let alone one as good as Cedar Cove. Since both the story and the actors were superb, I can only surmise that it came down to the almighty advertising dollar and the usual corporate greed. If you haven’t watched the movie “Idiocracy,” might want to check it out. Because that is exactly what we’re heading into, folks.
Loved that show. Bring it back.
I’m soooo very disapointed to have just learned of the show being cancelled. I’ve been waiting and waiting for season 4 to start and just googled this we have so much crap on TV. All the reality shows are becoming boring. This show was a nice series. Finally a show with some substance and story lines. Such a shame
I guess I am part of the group of 1.67 million viewers who continued in Season 3 to faithfully watch the show and are now so disappointed that the story was left unfinished. This was a beautiful, clean, wholesome show with great characters, acting and storylines. It is such a shame to cancel it without finishing it. We always tell our boys when starting something, “FTJ” (Finish The Job). Hello Hallmark…”FTJ”!!
I am so disappointed to learn that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. This is one of a few series that I could actually watch with my 82 yr old Grandma. I would go to her house every Saturday & watch it with her. Sure wish they would’ve given us viewers a heads up or let us vote. I know movie making is not cheap, but it’s just not fair!! PLEASE RECONSIDER!
Sincerely,
Two of many upset Cedar Cove fans, from Flushing, MI
I want a season 4 to end the show, was so disappointed the way y’all left us hanging!
Very disappointed on the cancellation. There should have been an ending. I have a feeling that Hallmark is replacing people and shows for the younger audience (such as replacing Christina Ferrare on Home and Family). I think by the comments on the new show replacement (Chesapeake Shores), Hallmark ought to reconsider and not lose their middle age audience. I am not watching Hallmark as I once did.
I am very disappointed to learn that Cedar Cove has been canceled ! Please reconsider bringing it back !
Really disappointed that Cedar Cove is not coming back. Love that series. Please reconsider.
I can’t believe that you just ended the series without any resolution. VERY disappointed in Hallmark. Please reconsider. While Chesapeake Shores is a so-so replacement, the story line is a bit old. Cedar Cove had a fresh story line
Add me to the list of really disappointed Cedar Cove fans! I starting looking for it, thinking that I had missed its return and was so sad to read of the premature cancellation (IMHP). Please tie up the loose ends.
I am so disappointed that you cancelled. I really loved Cedar Cove and was looking forward to seeing what happens next.. Will you think about bringing it back
I loved Cedar Cove and was so sad to see it not come back for a final season or a movies to answer some questions that were left at the end of season 3 and wrap up the series.
I recently learned about Cedar Cove while reading an article about Andie McDowell in Southern Living magazine. I watched the series on Netflix and believe it is a wonderful, sweet, wholesome and entertaining show. I believe that if more viewers knew about the show, the ratings would have been so much higher! I’ve mentioned the show to several people, and so far have not found anyone who has ever heard of it. Lack of promotion killed this wonderful series. I just watched the last episode and am so sad to learn that there isn’t a final season to wrap up… Read more »
I’m so disappointed that it won’t return as I was really looking forward to watching it this summer. It was just an easy, feel-good show. Please bring it back!!
