Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I loved that show so much. Beautiful scenery, wonderful people, interesting plots that always acknowledge the ‘right & wrong’ of any conflict. I loved to see a season four.
So sad to see it canceled. Loved the characters and storylines. It was nice to see a show that had characters you could relate to and had quality actors and was a show I felt comfortable watching with my daughter. I think hallmark should give it another chance or at least come back with a few episodes to wrap up the storylines without rushing or try and jam it into a 2 hour segment.
Loved the show. I would love to it return and end the series in a more complete fashion. Too many questions left unanswered.
Why don’t you put together a two night Thanksgiving or Christmas special that wraps up the series. This show was a favorite of mine and I’m very disappointed you canceled it.
Dislike it when I am left hanging…so much more to see. Sorry the show was cancelled. Do not want to see another Hallmark series if you plan not to finalize in a proper manner.
Bring Cedar Cove back for another season and bring it to a close! Just don’t have people start bed-hopping when the writers run out of material. Keep it fresh, real and with the charm we had come to expect.
Wow. Just discovered there would be no more episodes of this series. I’d been wondering and when I googled it – I was surprised to see this. I think the Hallmark series strayed a bit from the books and that could be why folks stopped watching. However, it was something I looked forward to and seeing the characters of Debbie’s book come to life was nice. Really disappointed everyone involved couldn’t keep it together and do right by this series. It had a ton of possibilities and reader support from the get go.
My Wife and I enjoyed all three seasons and were looking forward to season 4.
To bad they couldn’t have had a final episode and tie up the loose ends
I was extremely disappointed to hear you have cancelled Cedar Cove. I watch the Hallmark channel because I am sick and tired of all the “reality crap” that’s on tv these days. It was great to watch a good show with great actors and beautiful scenery. This makes me think twice about any further viewing of shows on your channel, I’m sorry to say. Does everything have to have top ratings to withstand today’s aired tv shows. Ever you ever heard of Quality vs. Quantity?
I am very disappointed. I enjoyed this show and the actors very much. My husband even enjoyed watching with me. It is so frustrating the way shows are being cancelled without an ending. Please reconsider and bring this show back!
Too bad it wasn’t canceled before Season 3 ended, that way writers could have ‘wrapped the characters’ instead of leaving viewers dangling in the wind. Poorly done hallmark.
I am very disappointed that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. i really looked forward to it every week.
What a shame! I have no idea how Hallmark knows how many watch their programs, but this was one of their better programs. I looked forward to it each week. Not home much during the summer, but I DVR’d it and looked forward to watching it in the fall when I have more time. Wish you’d at least bring some closure to the program – or at least warn us of the cancellation. That’s how Downton Abby finished and it was beautiful! Wise up Hallmark. You have a following, so please don’t fail us.
I’m so sad this show was cancelled! There is so much trash and reality shows, this show was about family, friends and the community. I love the hallmark channel but this is sad. I do wish it would come back.
I loved CEDAR COVE. This show offered interesting life situations and now there’s no conclusion. Come on Hallmark that’s not fair. Please reconsider and give your viewers a good ending to a wonderful story.
