Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

For all of it’s fans, Cedar Cove deserved closure — shame on Hallmark Channel —
I am extremely disappointed for it to have been cancelled.
I am very disappointed that Cedar Cove was cancelled, leaving the viewers hanging. Please continue!!! Viewers need closure!!
I very much enjoyed the series. I had read all of the Cedar Cove books and felt like the book was coming to life.
I enjoyed the show very much. I hate when a series gets cancelled without resolution. It leaves the viewer hanging. Not nice Hallmark.
Hallmark should not have left us hanging like that. Very disappointed that the show is not coming back. I don’t think that I will watch any other series on Hallmark after what they did.
I am so disappointed that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. I have been waiting to see the new season.
I really enjoyed watching this show, The characters were interesting and had depth. I could imagine myself enjoying living in this beautiful fictional town. I am hoping that more episodes will be made to tie up the story. It’s a shame that it had to end.
This makes me so mad!!!!! I love this show . What is wrong with Hallmark so disappointed.
My husband and I loved this show. We were so sorry that it ended. Hope to see that ensemble cast together again. Or better still bring back Cedar Cove!
Cedar Cove was a ‘feel good’ show that was nice to watch when you wanted to get away from hectic or mindless programs on the main networks. Cedar Cove will be missed around here, but Chesapeake Shores looks promising.
Great show. I totally binge watched and miss it already. I wish someone would pick it up and let us continue watching a warm and touching show
There are so few shows that offer quality without the filth and Cedar Cove was one of them. I was so disappointed to learn that it had been cancelled, though that seems to happen with any show that I can sit and watch with my family. Hallmark channel really let me down with this cancellation. First Signed, Sealed, Delivered was cancelled, now this. Hoping one day a family network will come along that has the ability to produce quality shows like the 2 mentioned and keep them on the air, since it is apparent that Hallmark doesn’t have what it… Read more »
It’s so true there aren’t enough shows that are wholesome to watch as a family.
I HOPE netfix sponsored the series. Please bring it back.
I didn’t even know about the series till I found it on Netflix and I thought it was great no swearing, good family values, community based, loved how they supported breast cancer in the series I HAVE NEVER seen that! Truly inspiring, I hope you bring it back or at least have a proper episode or episodes to close out all the cliff hangers you left us with. Unfortunately violence & reality TV seem to be the “in” thing but for those of us who prefer wholesome family values and shows we hope you bring it back:) Thank you and… Read more »
