Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I think the long break between the next season caused ratings to declined. I enjoyed the show. I wanted to see the next season’s outcome.
I’ll miss this show. I looked forward to watching it every week. It’s SO hard finding something decent on television nowadays.
So sad it was just a sweet fun show. Mistake on Hallmarks part
sorry to hear about cancellation loved the show and the people very disappointed. would like to see it return kept waiting and wondered what happened ???
What?! I am so disappointed. I was looking forward to season 4 of Cedar Cover. I think you had a large enough following to continue for another year.
Maybe the ratings dropped because Comcast stopped showing it on demand. I really enjoyed watching Cedar Cove!
I am so disappointed that cedar cove is cancelled.the story was better with each season. What a bad call by hallmark!
I cannot believe you cancelled. It was clean and a great show and I will miss it. Please reconsider bringing it back.
Please return Cedar Cove. This was the best show in Hallmark. I may boycott instead.
i would love to see Cedar Cove return. I loved the show so much.that a friend and I traveled to Port Orchard, WA and had a great time touring the city.and meeting Debbie Macomber’s family and staff
I do not understand why Cedar Cove was canceled especially without closure. I enjoyed the show and am very disappointed. Will need to think twice about any new shows on Hallmark…do not want to become a fan only to be left in the dark.
I won’t be watching any of your new shows so don’t bothe advertising. I’m very mad at you for cancelling Cedar Cove. No more Hallmark for me!
I’ve read Hallmarks statement above, but I don’t understand why it was cancelled.
Because Andie either did not renew her contract or had a salary hike clause Hallmark did not option – as evidenced by her already filming an ABC pilot last March and saying virtually nothing to her fans about it on social media or an interview (whereas several others shared their surprise when not renewed). Even the week before the finale; “Jack, Warren, and Paul” visited the daytime Home and Family show and Warren was talking about possible love interests for next season.
This comment is exactly correct. Andie was offered more money for a different opportunity.Hallmark, at the very least, should offer us a 2 hour movie next year to wrap up the story lines. Certainly the production company can shoot around Andie for this movie.
Disappointed to hear not returning – my husband our 14 year old daughter really enjoy watching Cedar Cove along with When Calls the Heart. I hope Hallmark will have a change of heart and continue with Cedar Cove as well. Tabatha (Santa Rosa, California)
It was a very good show if the rating were going down you should have done something to bring them up again or end the series with a end not a not knowing
