Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:

The viewers were patient with the extra long wait between Seasons and the reward is the show just disappears. Seems like Hallmark contributed to the demise and blamed viewer decline. There are few Series that we can watch without anticipating inappropriate content and when one arrives it is unreasonably ended. What a disservice to loyal viewers.
If you think Chesapeake Bay even comes CLOSE to being as good a series as Cedar Cove, as far as I (and my friends) are concerned, you are sadly deluded! BRING BACK CEDAR COVE!!!! Also LOVE GOOD WITCH, however the series dilutes the magic—Oh, I will watch the series, don’t get me wrong–love the characters.. I can’t believe this show has been cancelled. So disappointed. I did read all the books in this series and loved them all as I loved the show. Of all the choices to cancel it’s a shame that a terrific and quality series had to be cancelled. My only complaint would be that there was too long a break between seasons. Would have preferred closer seasons. Was not fair to end the series without wrapping it up in some way.

Can’t believe this series was cancelled!!! Hallmark should at least bring it back for another season to answer Ann the unanswered questions! Not a lot of good family shows out there but this was one of them. Have enjoyed all three seasons on Netflicks!!
So sorry this show was cancelled. Looked forward to each show. I think it was too long between seasons but remained a fan. Was not fair to just end that way.
I am very disappointed the series cancelled. I understand some say it didn’t follow the books exactly…but that simply leaves an element of surprise for all. Maybe they should have follow them closer…but they can’t be exact. There was too long of a break in between seasons…and maybe they should bring it back for a last season with extra episodes to give some closure. My only complaint…the scenes were too short…seems like their were more commercials than show, but what was there was good. We want more!!
Huge mistake cancelling Cedar Cove! Why was it cancelled anyway? This is such a great show & a wonderful cast!!! My friends and I looked so forward to it every week. So disappointed with the Hallmark channel. Chesapeake Shores has already lost my interest…slow & boring. You didn’t even give Cedar Cove a chance. Bring it back please!
Please bring back the Cedar Cove series!! I thoroughly enjoyed this series & miss seeing it now. cancelling it left so many issues in question. Count me as a Fan of this series!!

I totally agree!!!! I am upset..it was getting a good show..not a good move.
I loved the books, could not stand the show. Nothing followed the books – and I mean nothing. It was ruined for me. I seldom watch shows or movies based on books, and this proved my theory completely.
I am missing Cedar Cove its been a nice family show I wish it would return.
Loved the show! My husband have been watching for this to return & just found out it was cancelled. What a disappointment!
Very disappointed the series was cancelled. Enjoyed the characters. Ended with too much left hanging. They could have ended it better if it was being shut down.
Your should at least provide a series ending tying up all the loose ends. Make the audience happy
