Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

It’s annoying that Hallmark cancelled Cedar Cove right when Olivia was wavering in her relationship with Jack. Paul, her new possible love interest had just entered the story not long before the end of season 3. Hallmark is making a BIG mistake. I will not be watching any more Hallmark stories due to this poor business decision. Losing viewers seems to not be an issue, I guess. Hallmark’s loss, other network’s gain.
Wow! I can’t believe Hallmark would cancel Cedar Cove! It was the one show my husband and I looked forward to. With all the crime dramas it was the one show we could watch and not flinch .
I cant believe that Cedar Cove has been cancelled, this has been one of the best quality TV programs from Hallmark looked forward to evety Sat. Night tuning in to watch and see what was going to happen next in Cedar Cove. Loosing faith in Hallmark always depended on them for great TV!!
I am angry that notice was not given to viewers. Would love to see a finale.
I do not think the show should have been cancelled but if indeed that is going to happen, there needs to be a closure instead of leaving everything just hanging. Not fair to leave it like it is. Was looking forward to the new season. So few really good shows out there!
NOOOOOOOO. Say it ain’t so. I am sad to see Cedar Cove go. Hallmark, please reconsider.
One of the very few series on TV today with well written scripts, outstanding acting and a very good content, and beautiful location/setting. Don’t understand why this would not continue.
CANCELLED…WHY???????????????????????. Unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. This series is all about doing the right thing…Hallmark, have you not been watching? Come on guys, this is an extremely poor business decision. Do the right thing…bring it back. Your smart people, figure it out!
So sad. I love the show. Loved the characters, story lines, scenery. Book bring it back.
It shouldn’t have been canceled. At least it was a decent show.
I am in total agreance with fans of the Cedar Cove series. I do not watch tv at all because of how immoral everything is. This was a heart warming series that my teenage daughter could watch with me without worrying about a dirty scene to come on. I think the series should be finished out or at the least one more season to finish it out. Bring back Cedar Cove!
Hallmark, just because Andie left the show for more money should not be reason enough to cancel the series, she could have been written out of the script.
The other reason for cancellation of the series was due to dwindling ratings, according to news reports. This is a series that came on Sunday night when most people are going back to work or school after a summer weekend. Hallmark should have moved it to another night before pulling the plug.
It was on SATURDAY night last year which is worse – and 5pm PT (or 6 as can’t recall). Plus no replay during the week or advertising – so what did they expect. Should have just written Olivia and Jack out sending them to Seattle…
I’ve been waiting for Season 4 of Cedar Cove to come out and now I find out it has been Cancelled!! That really stinks!! BRING BACK CEDAR COVE!!!
I have been looking for the next season of Cedar Cove and then I find that it was cancelled! That really stinks! BRING IT BACK!!!
I am Terribly disappointed. One of the very few series on TV today with well written scripts, outstanding acting and a very good content, which is so unusual on today’s T.V. . Don’t understand why this would not continue. I think it is a big mistake.
