Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Very disappointed Cedar Cove did not continue. I don’t think ratings should be everything. There are so few shows on with substance, good, thoughtful writing and charming, deeply thought -provoking characters. I thought Hallmark would go beyond ratings and produce shows for us, the viewers. After all, without US, you wouldn’t HAVE a film/tv opportunit/branch of the corporation. Ratings can’t and shouldn’t be everything. But alas, The all mighty $$$ prevails. So sad!
It should not have been canceled. I couldn’t wait for each new story. I loved the actors and will miss it. Please bring it back.
My daughter and I yelled in terror when we discovered just now that Cedar Cove was cancelled. We just finished watching Season 3 episode 11. We want Olivia and Paul to be together lol.
Yes, I hate seeing it end & hanging with many unanswered situations. Personally I feel the problem with Hallmarts series is the way you’re breaking them up! Why & what’s the purpose of not letting them run their course, like movies, until they end? I feel thes will continue to hsppen, because with the younger generation they move on. Consequently, they forget about them or lose interest because of breaking them up, so regrettably they crash!
I echo all of the comments I’ve been reading here, which reflect my sentiments…. so sad to see another good, clean, entertaining, and beautifully filmed show go by the wayside and keeping its faithful viewers “hanging”… it is so hard to find this kind of enduring and quality programming these days, of which I am eager to share with my family and friends. It would be nice to see Netflix pick up where Hallmark left off!
I am so disappointed that Cedar Cove won’t be returning. The quality of actors and script were refreshing to see! Can’t you at least make a 2-hour finale show so we know how it ends? The cast was great!
I miss Cedar Cove so much! I’m really trying to like Chesapeake Shores, but so far I’m underwhelmed. I like shows that surprise me, but I can predict the storyline as it goes along
Why can’t we at least have a Cedar Cove reunion special in which all the loose ends are tied together?????
I just found out about the cancellation and was very disappointed in Hallmark. They should have allowed the last season to play out. At the very least they should have a 2 hour movie to bring some closure to the story lines. What do you think Hallmark? Good idea!!!
Really sorry to see it cancelled. Especially with no answers coming to give it all a great ending. Left so many viewers disappointed to not finish such a good story with good actors. I too wish the viewers could have had a say. And that they would care enough for those who did watch every week to give the story a ending to remember
I’m really sorry that one of my favorite series won’t be back, especially since there were loose ends to tie up. I really liked most of the cast, especially since a lot of new actors, to me, were introduced to all of us. What a shame.
I’m glad someone mentioned Heartland because that was also one of my favorite series that just disappeared too.
What a shame to cancel such a beautiful show! Season one was outstanding. Season two was still wonderful but took a a while to warm up to the season one standard. Season three was also outstanding with the addition of Paul who brought addition texture and wit to the ensemble. TV is a dying venue for quality programming. Hallmark take note! Very disappointed!
So disappointed:( What on earth are they thinking!! Cedar Cove was one of my favorites. I was looking forward to it’s return. Who ever made the decision to cancel this series should be forced to watch all the worthless tv programs that are on these days. Good luck with that!!!!
I really enjoyed the show! I was dying to know what happened next! This may not have been doing great on regular TV but it would back a great Netflix series!!! Give it some thought- would love to see all the stars return and find out what is in store for a fourth season.
I’m totally disappointed in Hallmark for canceling this excellent series! I cannot understand why they would do that to 1.7 million viewers. I’ve lost respect for Hallmark. There are very few shows I would watch on TV…this was one of the few that had no violence or garbage. Maybe Hallmark wants to lower its standards to the level of other stations. I will no longer watch a Hallmark series or program because they have no respect for their viewers and leave us hanging and it’s very disappointing. Apparently greed is the Hallmark ‘hallmark’. : (
It was one of the best series on tv. It is very sad the show was cancelled after only three seasons. What’s the matter/. 1.7millon not enough? There are trashy shows on with much less viewership than that!!!!!!!!!
