Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

what? Not returning? Why? One of my favorite shows.
I am so sad. Have been watching from the beginning all the new series on Hallmark and and Hallmark M&M. Hallmark is my favorite channel. I do agree with others who have commented that if Hallmark isn’t going to continue with this series, we, the fans, deserve an ending and I think a 2 hour movie that wraps it all up would do the trick. Otherwise, as others have said, why bother to start watching only to worry about being disappointed not to have an ending. I do hope that Hallmark will do the right thing for its loyal fans.
Sorry to see Cedar Cove end – I enjoyed this series immensely. It was my Calgon take me away time each week. I can we viewers will have to write our own ending. Sad.
This is so rediculous! Finally have a good family show and you have to go and cancel it.
As evidenced by most all comments concerning the cancellation of this show, viewers are extremely disappointed — not only because the show offers no ending to its storylines but also because all of the time invested in the show’s characters seems to not matter to Hallmark. If it is true that Andie McDowell made salary demands that couldn’t be honored, then she is to blame as well for at least not attempting to contract a series finale — even in the form of a Hallmark movie — that would satisfy the loyal viewers who have stayed with this show since… Read more »
My husband and I have always looked forward to watching Cedar Cover together. Now we will never find out what happens. This could have gone on forever. A wonderful family show
My husband and I are so disappointed. We always looked forward to seeing this show together. Now we will never find out what happens and we love all the characters. Why was this cancelled?
Cedar Cove had characters that were intriguing, complex, and engaging. The storylines and writing were good and left us anticipating the next episode. Chesapeake Shores has none of that – it is truly a disappointment that Cedar Cove has been replaced with a series of such obviously lesser quality.
Uh oh, Hallmark, am afraid you reallllly dropped the ball on this one!! Am so grateful for the wholesome movies you air for us to enjoy, and Hallmark is truly my favorite channel, but cancelling Cedar Cove was a BIG FAIL. Seriously, everyone I know watched Cedar Cove and LOVED it. Please reconsider or in the very least tie up the loose ends and air a finale. Am sure all your loyal viewers will be very grateful.
I LOVED Cedar Cove!!! Heartbroken & mad no 4th season and hate being left hanging!!! Bet a 4th & final season would get high ratings. Want to watch Chesapeake Shores but afraid will be heartbroken again.
Shame on Hallmark for leaving us all upset on your first TV series.
RENEW RENEW RENEW
It’s hard to believe such a great show was cancelled. Good clean viewing is hard to find. Viewing numbers were huge by any standard. Hallmark continues to drop the ball with continued repeats. No more Hallmark Hall of Fame etc.
What a shame and not to notify your watchers, unbelievable
Just searched to see when the new season begins and am very upset to find out the series has been cancelled. Hallmark got this one wrong. The fans at least deserve a chance to see the story close.
bring the show back.
