Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

so sad to see yet another positive, clean, beautiful show disappear….please somehow have cedar cove come back, you had tons of fans desiring exactly this type of show!!!
I’m disappointed! I wanted to at least have a wrap-up episode. Actually I really wanted to see Olivia end up with Paul Watson!
Money talks, our comments walk obviously.
So sad Hallmark chose to end a wonderful show. Great cast, great storyline. The least Hallmark should have done was a wrap-up show.
Best family show that had been on TV in forever. I always looked forward to it. What about the other million of people that like the show. It had good story lines & everything. Just don’t understand why you would cancel it. Reality shows is all that is taking over TV. You were wrong to cancel it I don’t know why they bother to ask us what we think b/c no matter what we think it will stay cancelled.
I would love to see it come back though
Wait till viewership droos a bit with their new series Chesapeake Shores….another great series!
I will not bother to watch any other series on the Hallmark channel. I was looking for at least a closing…which we didn’t get. It left us high and dry and nothing was said to a closing episode…probably because there wasn’t one. I was so disappointed, so will not be watching any others. That was a really bad call, Hallmark.
Best series on TV in a long time. Why the heck would you cancel this awesone show? I am watching the series on netflix now. I think you should reconsider this really bad decicision you have made! There’s so much unintelligent time wasting JUNK on TV! So, you know, You are dropping YOUR best Hallmark TV show!
Though I sometimes felt the acting was a little cheesy, I read all of these books and still recorded all the episodes of this series. I hate when networks do this to their loyal watchers. It has to happen to each series, we get it, but I really felt this (series) would make it to the end, because it did have a end. Ive been meaning to look for the series for the last couple of months because it wasn’t on recording on my DVR and I was pretty sure it was a summer show. So disappointed when I read… Read more »
So disappointed that CC was cancelled. New show may be good, but I’m concerned that it, too, will be cancelled abruptly; therefore, Chesapeake will not have my allegiance that CC did. Even with a declining viewership, Hallmark should have honored the several million followers of CC with some kind of a conclusion. Definitely CC should be back, if only briefly.
I can’t believe hallmark cancelled Cedar Cove. It was by far the best series I’ve seen. Chesapeake Shores is good but in my opinion not as worthy as Cedar Cove. Can you at least do a follow up?
you really can’t!!
one of the BEST programs you have ever had!!
Certainly will NOT be investing in any other Hallmark exclusive tv scripted series after the precident set with their first one. Just abruptly end it when it no longer makes the money you want with no regard to your loyal viewers who make that money for you? Where is YOUR loyalty, Hallmark? Ending abruptly on a cliff hanger is just inexcusable. You have successfully UNfanned me. I haven’t even bothered with the series you replaced Cedar Cove with. No thanks to another possible abrupt ending and disappointment. Poorly done, Hallmark.
Anytime I change cable provider I specifically ask if the two Hallmark Channels are included. I pay extra for the channels. Now I am starting to rethink my actions. I was very shocked to see this happen to such a good show. The case and the writers are great story tellers. I am truly disappointed in the decision of the executives who were involved in making this decision.
Please not end the series on a cliff hanger…how about a movie?
When you find a feel-good show with no blood or gore, ZAP you take it away
