Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I really miss this show! Please bring it back!!!!
I am so sad-just started watching and loved every show. Watched the end of season 3 thinking there would be a 4th-but couldn’t find. It was one of the best series out there. Good clean entertainment!! Why cancel all the good shows?
cant believe you would cancel the show without ending it for us. I loved the show and the characters. I had read the books. I hate to get involved in series and then not be able to the how it all ends.
It is so disrespectful to the audience to cancel a show without at least writing and ending to it. We can see you do not care about your audience.
I am so sorry we won’t have season 4! I really enjoyed this show. The setting is beautiful and I like the actors. I want Cedar Cove to continue. As a matter of fact, because of the show I want to visit Cedar Cove!
I have been a loyal watcher of Cedar Cove and am very disappointed to know that there will be no season 4. I loved the characters and the relaxing beautiful setting. I always enjoy a good clean show with a heartfelt story connecting everyone. That is how i feel when i think of Hallmark. I love Cedar Cove series and orher movie done by Hallmark, with a few exceptions. Not a fan of continuously running older programs and only so so on the Mystery channel side if Hallmark movies. Just don’t get rhe same feel, personally speaking. Now watching Chesapeake… Read more »
I waited all summer for this show to come back on but never saw previews so I finally went online to see what was happening. I am super bummed about the cancellation of Cedar Cove. I love Hallmark movies, but you only get a new one maybe once a week so this show was a nice addition and I loved the content because it was better than a lot of the heavier stuff out there. Hopefully, Hallmark will start showing more movies/shows instead of all of the Golden Girl/whatever reruns. We need more shows Hallmark! Chesapeake Shores has been a… Read more »
I am not crazy about Chesapeake Shores. I want Cedar Cove back.
I’m so through with you Hallmark!
I have been wondering where this show was (I see there’s a new one with Jesse Metcalf and I can’t really see how that show is OK but this one got cancelled). I just went online and found out it was cancelled after last season. If the viewership went down I would say that’s mostly because you never showed enough shows and then people had to wait a year to see it again! You could at least have a 2 hour movie and tie up the loose ends. It’s not fair to put on a show, get viewers (no matter… Read more »
I was very disappointed and sad to hear of the cancellation of Cedar Cove. As the other comments have stated, viewers have few viewing options that depict and encourage Christian values. I also concur I wonderful it’s been to have original series instead of the all day repeats. Please reconsider.
Sòoooooooooo sad. I loved loved this show. Please have at least one more. Too many loose ends
My family and I didn’t enjoy the negative drama that weighted so heavily on the characters of Cedar Cove. I prefer the feel-good, wholesome productions that are the essence of Hallmark.
I loved the show and am so disappointed that it was not renewed. It was such a nice family show! Not gory, not violent, dealt with things that normal people deal with in everyday life. Why does Hallmark do this to good family shows?
I enjoyed Cedar Cove. very nice show, lovely setting. Yes, It wasn’t the show that was shoot up , or big thriller mystery but nice. Very enjoyable and relaxing. All the cast very enjoyable. Thank you. Teri
It is very sad. I am, however, looking forward to seeing Andie MacDowell in the movie “The Beach House,” I have been reading the book and was thinking it would make a great movie.
