Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
NOOO!! I cannot believe Cedar Cove has been cancelled!! It is such a great family show!! So Disappointed!!
Please bring back Cedar Grove. It is a good wholesome show and very popular. There is no reason to cancel it.
Terribly disappointed to hear this. That’s one thing about gettting caught up in a series and being a dedicated viewer – the channel can decide at any time to cancel and leave us hanging. Makes me consider whether to continue to watch the other Hallmark series that I also love, wondering when the same thing will happen to those too. Not sure how many viewers they actually require to stay on the air if over $1mil is not enough??? Please bring this back for those of us who have stay tuned every week!!
Please bring cedar cove back. I have been a fan for many years of Debbie malcomber books & fell inlove with them as I have the show. I know for myself & so many fans it would be such a delight, taking it home really, to be able to return there & see how things turn out.
Cedar Cove should not have been cancelled. It was a good show, you start watching shows than they are dropped.
Please consider bringing Cedar Cove back; if not for a full season then certainly a few movie specials to keep the audience connected to this wonderful ensemble of actors and stories . Too many unanswered story lines that should be concluded .
Please bring back Cedar Cove! NOW!
Please bring it back great show
Please bring Cedar Cove back
At least do a 2 or 3 hour show to wrap things up
I really hate when you guys just leave things hanging
Would love to see cedar cove return
Please bring back Cedar Cove
Please bring it back. With some rewritten story lines, it could be even better
BRING BACK CRDAR COVE. One reason i do not like Hallmark series is that they always cancel the goid ones. Get some balls, rewrite some story lines and bring it back
Please bring Cedar Cove back. It is a great show!!!!
I was extremely disappointed to see Cedar Cove end. A refreshing and wholesome show focusing on relationships and the ability to communicate with others. We need to see these types of shows more often, especially in our troubling times today in the USA.
Bring it back please.
