Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Tammra Yamamoto is sad to see the series end. Enjoyed cast and beautiful scenery, will miss ‘our’ small town.
Please bring back Cedar Cove!!!!
So disappointed there is not a Season 4. Loved this show. Please bring it back.
Binged it and was waiting for the next episode.
Ohhh I wish there was a season 4! why would yall leave us hanging? it’s a great story! so refreshing…. Please!!!
I love Cedar Cove. it is so refreshing to see a heartfelt drama that is family-friendly and so well produced. I would love to see a season 4.
Just watched the series on Netflix. I am very disappointed that it was cancelled. #BringBackCedarCove
Very disappointed there will not be a season 4. This is a big mistake for the Hallmark Chanel. I would really like to know what short sited individual make this decision.
Very disappointed. Looked forward to this show!!!
I am very disappointed Hallmark has cancelled this show. There are very few things on TV that are worth watching and I will miss this series greatly. Please consider bringing more episodes to those of us who enjoyed this program
I just loved this series. I thought I had somehow missed season 4 not realising it had been canceled. How could you leave people hanging like this? That is just Wrong. Those of us who watch the series get invested in the characters and story line. Maybe a better job at promoting your series would have helped? It would just show up and go off with no warning. Not good. Good quality TV, to much to ask for? Shame on you guys!
I completely agree with Pam and the many many others that were greatly disappointed by the cancellation of Cedar Cove….. and I too would love to see a season 4…. so please Hallmark Channel… make it happen …
Netflix, please get cast together to film more episodes….we need more of this great show.
I am in the last few episodes of a Cedar Cove binge watch on Netflix and I was looking for where I could see season 4 and found this article. I’m so sad. Quality TV is so hard to find today and I love getting lost in an innocent show like this.
Love, love, loved this show!! Beautiful, loveable characters… & yes, a couple of shady guys to make the good ones look even better. Storyline was well crafted always moving quickly from one sub-story to another but done so well it was never distracting. I MISS CEDAR COVE!!!
Just found the series in Netflix. Would love to see a season 4!
LOVE THIS SHOW!!! I’m so disappointed you cancelled it!!! Bring on a final season, please!!!! Just found it on NETFLIX! I want to move to Cedar Cove! 🙂
I just found “CEDAR COVE” on Netflix and loved each show. I know my comment will not matter but how could you cancel such a sweet, wonderful show? I hope who ever is in charge will reconsider their decision and not cancel one of the best shows, ever and start Season 4.
