Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I enjoyed this show a lot. Very sad to see it cancelled. For me, the Jack and Olivia story had gotten stale, but season 3 showed the story lines moving in different directions. I think Hallmark pulled the plug to soon.
This is really sad. I hate watching shows that end like this. Such a great show. Why? Why? Why? Why must this end? There were so many unanswered questions. This makes me so sad and gives Hallmark a bad name in my books.
Please bring this show back, if nothing else to give some closure.
Please!
I am really, really upset about this cancellation. A really beautiful show about family, friends and life. Why do the great shows get cancelled. No logic.
I am really upset. I love this show. I really can’t believe it was cancelled .
This show was the best Hallmark had on TV in my opinion. I never missed an episode and wished each season would last longer than it did! I agree that you should reconsider and not cancel this show. We loyal followers do not care about ratings. We just want the show back! PLEASE!!!!
Can’t believe this show isn’t being renewed. It’s one of the few wholesome shows on TV. The characters are wonderful and the scenery is amazing. I was hoping this show would last several more seasons. Even though the ratings weren’t high, the show has a very loyal following. Please reconsider and don’t cance this show!
So disappointed about the cancellation of Cedar Cove! I never missed an episode. 🙁
This sucks… Bring Cedar Cove BACK! This is a good show that should & MUST be saved. This is another bad move by Hallmark channel. My mom & I watch this show, one of our faves. Another bad move they did is that they should have left Signed Sealed Delivered as a TV series NOT an occasional movie. At least for now S.S.D. still has an occasional movie/special, BUT with the way they dumped Cedar Cove it doesn’t look good for S.S.D…. 🙁 I just hope they DON’T pull this same crap with When Calls The Heart after Season 3… Read more »
I am so disappointed that Cedar Cove is cancelled. Finally we find a good show to watch and it’s taken away. Why can’t you renew it????????
Very disappointed that hallmark canceled the show wish they would bring it back or at least end the show right bring it back for TV movie or 2 or 3 part mini series so we can see what happens with all the characters I hate when shows that are worth watching gets cancelled and nothing ends right it sucks…bring it back
I liked the show upset its gone
Can’t you please reconsider and bring back Cedar Cove? There are so few shows I can share with my family.
Loved thus show – why are you cancelling???!?
Cedar Cove was my favorite show and I looked forward to watching it every week. I hope that Hallmark changes their mind and brings it back.
I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED that Hallmark cancelled the 4th season of Cedar Cove. I have watched every season and was truly looking forward to season 4. Please please reconsider this cancellation.
