Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

So disappointed, great show, wonderful characters, good story lines. Why not at least wrap it up
For those that so enjoyed it!
I’m shocked re cancellation. The show was a highlight of my summer. PLEASE reconsider. Didnt know until now
I am so sad to hear that Ceder cove was cancelled my family and I loved watching it all together. Will we ever find out what happens with Olivia?
I am so very disappointed that season 4 has been cancelled. My husband and I looked forward to each and every week of this show
Would love to see at least one more season to wrap up. I really enjoyed this program and looked forward to each episode!
I’m very disappointed it has been cancelled. I hate when you invest time in a show and then it’s cancelled without wrapping up the loose ends of the story line. Why couldn’t they have a final 2-hour special and just finish the story more?
One of today’s better series, Hallmark should bring it back!
Very sorry to hear “Cedar Cove” has been canceled. Husband and I both enjoyed watching it. Better than most of the garbage on TV now. Do think people might have lost interest because the story lines did not progress fast enough. I have read every one of the books, loved them. But, your watching a tv show not reading a book. In our instant gratification society, the plot needs to move along.
I loved it. So sad to hear it was cancelled.
I loved Cedar Cove and am very disheartened that Season 4 was cancelled , as i was looking forward to seeing what happens to the characters. I really did enjoy watching Cedar Cove, and i even bought season 3 before realizing season 4 was cancelled and was so upset after hearing this. I think it is a great TV series and should be brought back to answer unanswered questions. Please bring Cedar Cove Season 4 back to broadcast.
I am very upset that Cedar Cove was cancelled with out any notice I have read all the Cedar Cove books and there are so many things that no one will know about unless they have read the books. It’s not fair to the viewers to be left in the lurch like that!! Even my husband and my mother watched it. It is dumb to take a family show off the air but leave something like “how to get away with murder ” giving all the sicko’s all they need to commit murder!! Maybe we should start a petition and… Read more »
Bring it back!
This is the first Hallmark channel series that I have made a point to watch every episode and they have cancelled it. I thought it was one of the better written series and that’s why I went on the site to see when it was coming back. I was told about it by a friend. I think they’re making a mistake.
I’m saddened by this news. Cedar Cove was an excellent, wholesome series that was enjoyed by our family night tv time.
It would be helpful to at least have one or two shows to conclude the series and tie up loose ends. I just learned it was cancelled. I always watched but not at the scheduled time so I am not sure how that is figured into the numbers.
So please have a conclusion. I hate that viewers invest in a show and the network drops it flat. It was a good drama, and story and needs an ending in all fairness. Did anyone ever win the sweepstakes? I didn’t know the show was in trouble
