Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
What a shame! Such a good show with an interesting storyline. Hallmark keeps bringing good shows and then cancelling!! Come on!! Signed sealed & delivered was great and it’s not a series any longer! When Call The Heart is excellent but we have to wait months for new shows. Keep this up and I’ll tell DISH to cancel Hallmark and I’ll save money.
Just checked on line today to learn when Cedar Cove would begin Season 4. I can’t tell you how disappointed and shocked both my husband and I are to learn the show is canceled. It was so refreshing to watch this weekly program, since there are few shows airing today that aren’t riddled with profanity and violence. In addition to enjoying the cast, the scenery was spectacular and we were hooked on the plot and its characters. Hope that Hallmark will reconsider and bring the program BACK! We’d like to view Season 4 and learn how the characters’ relationships evolve… Read more »
So sorry to hear you cancelled cedar cove, my wife and I can’t wait for it to return each fall. Now you have all these stupid movies on that you can tell the ending before it even starts. Hallmark went from first to last on our movie channel list.please bring back CEDAR COVE.
Loved the show
My husband and I were looking forward to a 4th season.I have read all of the books and now have faces to put to names .I wish it was continuing. It was one of the few non violent shows available.
So sad to learn the show was cancelled. I loved it. So did my husband….Why do they always cancel the good programs???
i cannot believe it……….you have no idea how importatnt this series has been to our overall happiness ……..please reconsider
I agree. Hallmark should have at least done a wrap up show before ending the series. Please do a finale show.
Can’t believe they cancelled cedar cove. Every time a good show comes on and you get wrapped up in it a feel a part of it they pull the rug out from under you!!!!
I am sorry to see this show cancelled – it was a great clean family show with many story lines. I can’t believe shows are dropped after engaging followers for years and not bringing to a conclusion.
I’m so sad to hear Cedar Cove has been cancelled. I so enjoyed it and always looked forward to it. I too would like to see a final show. It’s not fair to the viewers that have supported this show in its 3 seasons not to have a finale.
Not happy. Was looking forward to the new season of Cedar Cove. Loved it from day one along with all the other new series. This was a great cast. It was refreshing to see a show like this unlike the bad tv on now. Hallmark – please bring it back. If not at least do a two hr special to bring the storylines to some conclusion.
I am so sorry to see this show canceled. There are not that many good shows on TV anymore and I paid exra to get Hallmark and its good shows. Hope this isn’t the beginning of the end of good TV. I too would like to see a finale to the show. To just drop it when the audience was involved in the plot and with the characters, does not make for good PR.
I think Cedar Cove should have been renewed. Please bring the show back. There is not enough good shows like this one. It was the only good show on TV on Saturday night. I think Hallmark made a mistake canceling this series. You get people hooked and then without caring about the viewers the show gets canceled. Makes me wonder why I watch this channel so much. I stopped watching A&E when they canceled Longmire and helped with the campaign to get another network puck the show up. The campaign was a success and Netflix picked the show up.
I was so disappointed to find out Cedar Cove was cancelled. I was anxiously looking forward to the new season. You left us hanging, not fair. Please bring it back. We loved it!
