Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Waited too long to get main characters together. Should have followed books more closely
Was wondering why Cider Cove has not returned and found in my search it had been canceled. This is so disappointing,I am hoping with all the emails and replies Halmark will change their minds. Good show.
I can’t believe this,I love this show…please tie up the loose ends!!!
I just googled to see when season 4 was starting What a disappointment
How sad. Hallmark had a good one and pulled the plug too soon. I still hear people talking about the show and some have not even heard of the show yet. They really needed better advertising. The numbers of viewers is dependent on a lot more then just the show itself. This could be one of those times when a network could wait a season, then bring it out in the form of a miniseries or two hour special episodes.
I agree with at least bringing it back in a two hour special until you finish up with the story lines for the characters.
It’s not right that the loyal fans don’t at least get one last show that wraps up the story!
Sad shame such a wonderful show
Loved this show and so disappointed it won’t continue. Wish they would have at least tied up loose ends with all the characters/story lines.
I am so disappointed! I looked forward to this show every week! The characters, the scenery, and the concept were all so beautiful!
Not every show draws huge ratings but stays on anyway. What did they expect when airing on a Saturday night?
Please reconsider! Thank you.
I cannot believe that Hallmark Channel would cancel such a popular, and family friendly show. I anticipated watching a well written and well acted series each week. Hallmark, could you at least try to write a finale so that we can go away with a good feeling about your decision?
Those of us who are loyal fans are entitled to an explanation. When a network cancels a show without a finale to tie up all the loose ends it is disappointing and unfair to its followers . Why should I continue to watch any other series on Hallmark now not knowing if same thing will happen again At the very least we deserve an explanation of what happened and why !
Cancelled? Are you kidding me??? Cedar Cove was a rare gem of a show. Very refreshing family viewing. Will be sorely missed. Think Hallmark made a bad call with the decision to cancel!
I am so disappointed that Cedar Cove is not returning. It was a wonderful show and I looked forward to each new episode.Hallmark left us hanging with the last episode and anticipating for new ones. I was looking forward to find out if Andi MacDowell picked the new guy or what. Please bring the show back
I am sadden to see Hallmark cancel their series Cedar Cove. What a breathe of fresh air this series was with its beautiful scenery, plot and cast. To leave your viewers hanging out there with no closure is very disappointing. I thought Hallmark was better than that.
There are so few series that are worthwhile. In today’s society we need what you offered on Hallmark with Cedar Cove. We did not know that it had been cancelled until we watched the last disc. Disappointment and disbelief crowds our thoughts. Many are asking and we join as a family in asking you to reconsider and continue with Cedar Cove. We have loved Cedar Cove from the beginning. Avid supporters of uplifting values, and seeing the good and bringing out the good in others. Please bring it back. There are almost a thousand comments. Proof of your followers love… Read more »
