It seems NBC has had enough of justice in the “Windy City.” Deadline reports the Chicago Justice TV show is cancelled; there will be no season two of the legal drama series.
The latest in Dick Wolf’s Chicago franchise, Chicago Justice follows the prosecutors and investigators who make up the State’s Attorney’s team. The NBC cast includes Philip Winchester, Carl Weathers, Monica Barbaro, Joelle Carter, and Jon Seda.
Chicago Justice: A Look at the Ratings
Despite the success of the Peacock network’s other Chicago series, Chicago Justice struggled in the ratings during its first season. The show, which premiered in March, has only earned an average rating of 1.13 in the 18-49 demo, averaging 6.202 million viewers over the course of its first season. While these aren’t terrible numbers, they do make Chicago Justice the lowest-rated of the Chicago series. Maybe viewers have had enough of the “Windy City,” too.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Chicago Justice? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season on NBC?
Cindy McLennan contributed to this report.
I think it should be given a chance, perhaps a change to a different night. It’s an excellent show.
Will you stick to the facts please. To much of the Windy City as a reason the show was canceled. That’s why Chicago Fire is the second top rated show because what?… Chicago background is what adds to all the series. Nothing to do with having your fill of the Windy City. It’s the time slot but someone can’t see the forest for the trees. This is Dick Wolf’s creation and what he does is always “gold”. Let me simplify it for the suits who make the decisions by just looking at the numbers and apparently nothing else… you have… Read more »
We totally Agree with your comments Our only input, is to possibly move it to another night. The Sunday slot is fine with us, but we TiVo everything due to our Schedule. Please give Chicago Justice another Season.
The writing and plots were far inferior to the other Chicago series. No surprise it was cancelled. Move Jon Seda back to PD.
Love that show, shouldn’t have been cancelled.
I watched every episode and don’t understand why it didn’t make it. I personally don’t think they gave it long enough to build an audience. Perhaps younger investigators? Nothing against the actors that played those scenes. They did a terrific job but maybe to get younger audiences in?
No doubt the Sunday night time slot was a killer. But if it does not return, I at least hope that Jon Seda’s Antonio Dawson goes back to Chicago PD.
I hops so, too! Chicago PD isn’t the same without him… but then again, he probably get Lindsay’s spot now that she’s in big trouble.
I thought it was a good show. Take it off Sunday night and put it on a different night.
I’m so tired of them bring out new shows and not giving them time to bloom. Try the show on the same night as the other Chicago shows. This is a good show. You haven’t giving it a chance as usual. I’m going to stop viewing your new shows , because you just going to cancel it anyway. What about thge viewer’s who do time in. Don’t we matter?
I must agree with the other comments. The Sunday time slot was poor. It should have been after Chicago PD. The show was very good. Definitely should not have been cancelled!
This is a huge mistake. With so few shows that have a great story line, I am very disappointed. Maybe you could reconsider this motion to adjourn.
I thought this was a good show. I thought it did well in the ratings given the difficult Sunday time slot. I’ve given up trying to figure out these networks.
It’s a shame, actually enjoyed this. It was not given a fair chance on a Sunday.
Also, they still renewed Shades of Blue which has even lower ratings just b/c of J.Lopez? Biased much?
How about giving it Law & Order SVU’s time slot! Now that show they can cancel…. it’s the same story each time. Or better still? Get rid of Shades of Blue!
Excellent Suggestion SVU ran out of ideas a couple seasons ago. We were loyal viewers, but when some of the original cast left, we felt the writers did also. Same old stuff every week
Chicago Justice is a program that makes you think, it draws you in, you put down the magazine and get into it…Great casting, Great writing, Great messages…Chicago Justice is Everything the viewer expects from a Dick Wolf production!!
very disappointed, I think it should have been renewed.
Noooooooo! Utilize a better day and time. So over these cancellations of good shows not given a chance.
I watch the show. This show is the least soap opera show and actually requires some concentration to watch. I think it’s Sunday night time slot killed it. The show would have done fine if it came on after Chicago PD or Chicago Fire. Canceling this show is a mistake.
Yeah, would have done much better if it was on same day as P.D.
You really need to bring this show back and get rid of some of the reality shows we have too many the way that it is. I always looked forward to watching this on Sunday nights.
