CHiPS aired more than 30 years ago, and Erik Estrada has kept close ties to the police profession since the series ended. In fact, the actor has served as a part of various police organizations since his time as Officer Frank Poncherello.
The actor revealed on his Twitter account last weekend that he was sworn in as a police officer with the St. Anthony Police Department. He will be a part of the department’s task force on Internet Crimes Against Children.
According to Entertainment Weekly, this is the third time the actor has been sworn in as a member of the police. In the past, he has “served as a deputy sheriff in Virginia and a reserve police officer in Muncie, Indiana (the latter as part of the short-lived reality show Armed and Famous).”
