Forget NYPD Blue, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and all those other non-musical cop shows. It’s been announced that ABC’s short-lived cop musical drama Cop Rock is coming to DVD this spring.
Cop Rock only lasted 11 episodes after it premiered on ABC in 1990.
From Steven Bochco, Cop Rock was part police procedural and part musical. The series featured original music from Randy Newman and starred Anne Bobby, Barbara Bosson, and Ronny Cox.
The DVD will contain all episodes of the series plus new interviews from the cast and crew. It will be released on May 17th and will be available on Amazon.

Part singing. Part dancing. All COP. Steven Bochco (Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue) produces another bold take on the police procedural genre with the provocative Cop Rock. The short-lived cult TV series will finally be released on DVD from Shout! Factory on May 17, 2016, presenting all 11 episodes in order as originally aired. This release comes complete with new interviews with Steven Bochco and Anne Bobby.

Reopen the investigation today on one of television’s most talked-about series – Cop Rock.
