The cast of White Collar got a chance to wrap up their series with a final short season but Covert Affairs won’t get that chance. USA Network has cancelled the series after five seasons, leaving fans with plenty of questions and no season six.
On Covert Affairs, operatives Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) and Auggie Anderson (Chris Gorham) work together in the CIA’s Domestic Protection Division (DPD). The show’s cast also includes Kari Matchett, Peter Gallagher, Hill Harper, and Nicholas Bishop.
The move to abruptly cancel the adventure spy series comes as a bit of a surprise but the decision reportedly all came down to money. USA owns the show but it’s not a cheap show to produce with rising talent fees and expensive location filming around the world.
In addition, the fifth season of Covert Affairs saw a big drop in the ratings — falling nearly 48% in the 18-49 demographic when compared to season four. Total viewership dropped 32%, to 1.54 million.
The final episode aired December 18th. Hopefully the producers will share what Annie’s decisions about her personal and professional life would have been.
What do you think? Do you like the Covert Affairs TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a sixth season instead?
I can’t believe I fell for this again….Binge watching a great series on Amazon Prime only to be left hanging.
There’s nothing I hate more than to be left hanging with no closure in sight.
Yes season 5 was not as good as the rest. Way too many senseless killing and endless foot chases and not enough of Annie between the sheets. They missed a chance to get her and Eyal in the sac. Those two had great chemistry.
Very disappointed in the network’s decision. The series was top notch!
Should have let her run away with Simon. Loved him and them together.
The story line took the wrong direction. Giving Annie a heart condition and ending her personal life. Make her a female James Bond and you had a winner.
When Covert Affairs was cancelled I swore that I would never watch any new series by USA and to this day, I have NOT. If they can’t be trusted to finish a story line, then they aren’t worth watching.
So very sad that this wonderful series os over. It was so well done. It must not have been marketed very well because I didn’t know about it until recently. Sure wish it could be continued. The writing and actors were amazing.
In Season 6, Annie should of transfer to a different agency maybe Homeland Security, FBI or gone to being a Private Eye.
That would keep cost down and she would travel only in the U.S.
I will miss this show very much, I liked just as much or more than NCIS..
They should have changed the premise on Covert Affairs and just have Annie more on a home front rather than going off to all those expensive international scenes. I liked the exchange with her sister, Danielle, and her two nieces in the first 2 seasons so why not make the show more family oriented on the home front? Can you imagine the chatter if someone that looks like Annie is walking around D.C. with a husband and a daughter & a son, but it is not her? With over 6 billion people in the world, there could be seven twin… Read more »
I loved this show, perhaps it could be made elsewhere, some where cheaper. I think at least finish the season with where it was left at. I think all good shows tend to get cut early, perhaps make for the Australian viewers!!
I love it. If they decided to cancel at least give the viewers closure. $$$ ? Why is it always the bottom line?
We loved the show and are very disappointed there has not been a Season 6!
yes cover affairs need to keep going…
USA must continue through season six. Wish we could see Annie’s, Arthur’s and
Joan’s choices. Too much to see with new season… Hope USA decide to continue the show
I think that it should continue through season 6. Rally the troops and clean things up. It’s not like their going to lose money, they just won’t make as much!
