The ratings for Covert Affairs have been dropping each season for awhile. Will they keep falling this year? Will they drop so low that the USA series is cancelled or, will it be renewed for a sixth season? Stay tuned!
On Covert Affairs, operatives Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) and Auggie Anderson (Chris Gorham) work together in the CIA’s Domestic Protection Division (DPD). The show’s cast also includes Kari Matchett, Peter Gallagher, Hill Harper, and Nicholas Bishop.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
UPDATE: USA has decided to cancel Covert Affairs after five seasons.
Final season averages: 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.54 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Reference point: Season four of Covert Affairs averaged a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.27 million total viewers.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Covert Affairs TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season six?
Go back to season 1 formula or the show will not recover. Annie is not the superhero the writers try to make her be. More time for credible characters like Joan, Arthur, Eyal, etc… If the CIA cannot find Auggie, they should pack their bags and go home. During the first year, there were realistic story lines, but not now; Wonderful Anne Dudek provided good old laughter. I hope that the Producers, Directors, and Writers deliver a mind entertaining show like they did in Season 1.
I too wish that the show would go back to how it was in the first three seasons, but that’s not going to happen. In my opinion, the entire vibe of the show is different. The writers seem to be hell bent on taking the show in a more serious direction, which isn’t altogether bad, but I think they lost a lot of the charm that it had in the earlier seasons. I also wish they would bring back Danielle and the opening them song. As far as Annie not being a superhero,…I get what your saying, but cut her… Read more »
I agree to an extent about the earlier seasons which won over the critics and the audience alike. When it was about a rookie, getting the job done by guidance, intuition and damned sheer luck. But she can’t stay a rookie forever though, right? They had to progress her story, and unfortunately, the writers decided her sister and family was in the way of ‘their serious story telling’ and switch to a format that’s bound to deteriorate the viewership. ie, serialization. The big problem in ‘the family’ storyline, was that the writers were telling it from the wrong perspective. Instead… Read more »
One of my favorite episodes, was in season 2, when Annie finally read Danielle in and the reaction she (Danielle) had to that bombshell that her little sister dropped on her, ultimately asking her to move out. You hit the nail on the head when you talked about the balance between the CIA and the family life and how that gave it heart, I thought I was the only one that felt that way. I have a feeling that the show will be renewed, but it will be its final season. Could be wrong though.(lol)
Loved the episode last night. Loved that we got to see Joan, Calder and Mcquaid get some decent screentime. They are good characters with good actors playing their parts. See how we can developed characters when we don’t wrap the show around Auggie’s soap opera affairs. Loved Annie working with Olga, shame they killed her off. I like Belenko as a villian.
This show is not interesting at all, please give something worth watching and please cancelled this show.
Please just go watch something else! Some of us like this show.
Please DO NOT watch the show if you DO NOT like
it. Other people enjoys it!
Covert affairs needs to go back to season one formula. Continuing with an unbelievable story line is not credible. It is the team and not the one the works.
That was a good episode last night. No Auggie sleeping around and taking off his shirt for a pleasant change. Annie doing so solid spy work, but dropping her guard at the last minute. I knew that drink was poisoned. That new ally of Annie’s is interesting, FSB and all. Hmmm. But they need to done down Auggie’s ability to beat everyone he fights a bit. It’s even more unbelievable than Annie running at top speed with stilettos. Kinda interesting how every time Auggie has a personal agenda/investment, it’s okay to keep secrets or lie, but not okay when someone… Read more »
I agree, ….. I think that was the best episode of this season. I also wonder how a blind guy is able to win so many fights! However, I disagree with your take on Auggie wanting to control her, or fearing her independence. I think its more of the fact that because she’s matured as an operative, their relation has changed from teacher/student to now equals and Auggie seems to be struggling with that. Now I know many feel that Auggie and Annie being together is a bad thing, and I think it was a mistake putting them together in… Read more »
I actually loved the first part of this season, because I loved seeing all the emotions coming from Annie. But I think we may be saying similar things about her relationship with Annie, but words are tricky things. I do see see Auggie Struggling with that a great deal, but he struggles with it because he fears her independence will mean her not needing him anymore. Auggie does have a control freak streak. His Therapist called him out on it back in season 2, when he tried to take control of his own therapy. He tried to control Natasha when… Read more »
Wow!…Are you an attorney or something? Based on the facts you have presented, I have no choice but to concede this debate, for your kung fu is much stronger than mine.(Lol) I forgot about the therapist episode!
Lol! I did study kung fu with Pie Mei. And my concession is that you are far more charming than I could ever be. We will celebrate when usa renews it in some form!
Love the show!!! So much better then the main networks!!
Please continue, do not cancel!!!
Love the show and need more like it. If the characters want to keep signing on for more episodes I say go for it. Just keep doing more out of country plots. Love the spy stuff.
Such a great show. Loved it from the start. The depth of the storylines is fantastic. Hope it stays
I have thoroughly enjoyed this show from day 1. Never miss an episode. Much prefer programs like this and White Collar (extremely upset it was cancelled) to the programs offered on the 3 major networks; tired of medical, legal, and scandalous programming. Sincerely hope WC comes back and CA continues.
Are White Collar and Covert affairs the only USA network shows that are sent to the sacrificial alter every fall sesaon against ABC’s TGIT? What do they expect?
Love covert affairs !!! It is a great show. Older people like me are more interested in these type of shows versus reality shows and sports. Please keep it on
Love this show and would be very disappointed if it isn’t carried forward. Great cast, interesting story lines, beautifully filmed and put together and simply entertaining; which seems to be the recipe for cancellation these days in favor of either stupid, fatuous drivel, otherwise known as “reality TV” or crass, unsophisticated, tiresome garbage about bed-hopping human rabbits. So sad.
I think Covert Affairs is one of the best shows on TV. I think it is one of the few shows about espionage in which they’ve actually done their homework. Unlike Homeland, it knows about real espionage procedure and methods. Of course, it is ramped up for the dramatic impact. And certainly there is a certain soap opera aspect to attract a part of the audience and lots of gun play to attract other components. Piper Parebo is a good actress and quite charming as is Chris Gorman.
Covert Affairs is my favorite show. I hope it won’t be canceled. Maybe it is on at the wrong time when other good shows are on. Just like Revenge and The Good Wife. I dont’t understand why they always have them on at the same time. I always have to watch one of them over again on Xfinity On Demand on Comcast Cable. A lot of people can’t do that unless they have On Demand or tape it.
Dear Admin, Questions. I know we’ll know real soon, but I’m beginning to be most pessimistic for the return of this show, especially coming back in the Fall prime time with giant shows on Network, I can’t imagine the ratings will be good at all. I was wondering if Cable follows the same rules as Network TV when it comes to shows nearing syndication at 88 episodes, even if the ratings are dodgy, or if this somehow doesn’t apply to cable shows? If Covert Affairs ends the season with 75 episodes, wouldn’t the network want to at least give it… Read more »
The same “rules” apply. The numbers are way down this season but USA is struggling across the board. I suspect they’ll bring it back for a sixth and final season to wrap things up.
Thanks for replying.
I really, really hope you’re right 🙂
