As fans know, Thomas Gibson was fired from Criminal Minds after filming a few season 12 episodes and Shemar Moore left in season 11. Meanwhile, Paget Brewster is returning, Aisha Tyler has become a series regular, and Adam Rodriguez has joined the cast. That’s a lot of upheaval in a short amount of time for this venerable CBS TV series. How will it do in the ratings in season 12? Could it be cancelled? Will there be a 13th season? Stay tuned.
Criminal Minds continues to follow the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) out of Quantico, Virginia. This season’s cast is Joe Mantegna, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez, and Paget Brewster.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
4/7 update: Criminal Minds has been renewed for season 13 on CBS. Details here.
5/11 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.

For comparisons: The 11th season of Criminal Minds averaged a 1.79 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.01 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Criminal Minds TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for season 13 on CBS?
I miss Shamar Moore, even though I still like the show. Derrick and Garcia chemistry was fantastic. There should be a 13 season, but Moore should have more guest appearances.
So disappointed that tonight’s season finale is not the series finale. But 13 has always been my lucky number, so perhaps Season 13 WILL BE the last year this crap is on TV. I really won’t be disappointed if it is.
Don’t like it don’t watch.
People haven’t been watching because they don’t like what’s become of the show. The ratings don’t lie. This was the lowest rated season, by far.
I love this show the cast are awesome I can’t wait to watch it. It might of had some changes but I still think it one of the best tv shows.hoping it will continue season 13
The Reed in prison arc drove me away. Shanking him in prison early on would have been easier to watch than the storyline they concocted around that. A shame I once really liked this show but the writers aren’t up to it anymore.
I would watch it if the brought the old cast back
Absolutely right. They don’t need to get rid of the old cast members and get new people to give the show a fresh look. What they need to do is get new writers, who will have new ideas for what to do with the existing people and theme.
I love this show this year with Reid in jail is a nail biter hope this show is not cancelled
Uh, did you miss it? This worthless crap HAS BEEN RENEWED. Still don’t get why, but it has. It’s been like 2 weeks since they announced it.
Down again. What a Surprise! (Sarcasm.) Hope it keeps going that way.
I loved the show with Shemar Moore. I hope he comes back, but in the meantime the show is still one of my faves so please keep it coming. Really excellent acting and great scripts. Leave my show alone. Until Shemar comes back, it’s still a great show.
You’re easy to please, considering how crappy I’ve heard the show is this past season. And sorry to burst your bubble, but Shemar has a new full-time gig, on a completely different show. He might come back for guest spots next year, but that is it. He’s done playing Morgan full-time. And personally, guest spots would not cut it for me, with regards to Gibson/Hotch. He ain’t there in every episode, I ain’t there for any of them. None of the other characters are worth spending time with if Hotch isn’t there too. As it stands, if they don’t bring… Read more »
I love season 12 and having been a fan since the start I thing it’s a very strong season. Surprisingly I’m not missing Shemar or Gibson. I think the new cast line up really works well. It took time to get used to Rossi and Prentis but I did. Liked the actress but never took to Seaver so was glad JJ came back. Love Jeniifer love Hewit thought she worked and am having no problem taking to the nest replacements. It works for me. Also, love beyond borders. This is a good spin off. Didn’t like the other spin off… Read more »
You may not miss Hotch, but I most certainly do, and so do all of the members of #NOHOTCHNOWATCH. Criminal Minds, as it is, is nothing more than another over-dramatized cop show, with no heart or soul. This time last year, I was excitedly waiting to hear if the show had been renewed. It was the only show I watched, the only one I liked, and the only one I anxiously awaited new episodes of. It was my only source of television entertainment, and the only real pleasure I, as a severely disabled American, had to enjoy. My one escape… Read more »
That is exactly it no heart and soul. Not one character we can say yes still good It really has lost its heart and soul
Thank you. Glad someone agrees with me.
It’s just not the same with out Morgan and Hodge. They were more believable in their roles. You know in real life Reed would never make it in prison and Hodge would of had him out by now! It’s been renewed but unless they put it back the way it was it’s just not interesting anymore!
100% in agreement. Hotch would never have allowed Reid to rot in prison while the team played hide-and seek with Mr. Scratch. Yet that is exactly what the “Prentiss-controlled BAU” has done. They are not even a team anymore, let alone the close family they once were. Hotch was the glue that kept the team together, that gave the show its spark and made us love all the characters. His position as the tough, determined boss and the loving, compassionate father figure was the show’s foundation, and without him, that foundation is crumbling. And you are completely right. So what… Read more »
Not too happy about the 3 week space between episodes. That will lose viewers who are on the fence about watching Criminal Minds.
I like that idea. Stick the dagger in a little deeper. Maybe they’ll hit CM’s proverbial artery and the show’s fan base will bleed out and dry up before season 13 gets off the ground. Can’t say I will be disappointed if that happens. In fact, I will be tickled pink if that’s the result. Not like there’s anything left of the show I once loved to save anyway.
We think it’s so very sad to see Thomas Gibson gone from criminal minds. People have disagreements all the time. Get over it. Firing him was immature and irrisponsinle. He is a great actor and made a huge contribution to the show, criminal minds. Although we love the other characters, My friends and family and I will probably no longer watch. It’s a principle thing.
I agree completely. I have not watched even the reruns since his termination. Hotch was the Heart of the show, just as Reid is the brains. The show, according to everything I have read and everything I have heard has lost its spark, its very soul, and I believe that is because Hotch is no longer there, being the no nonsense yet very compassionate leader he always was. And to me, that means the show is no longer worth watching. The show has nothing left I find appealling.
AGREE! cast not connecting. without gibson, there’s no real leadership. stopped looking when i heard he was fired. was my favorite. so sad. happy for shemar. miss him, too. it’s like pre-school, not the FBI. too many babies and no teachers.there’s some satisfaction in reruns but have seen them all.
I read an article published by in January recently of an interview with Erica Messer, this disaster’s executive producer. She said she wanted the fans to use the departure of Hotch to shift their focus to the show instead of the characters on it. That we needed to be reminded that the show is not meant to be about Hotch, or Reid. Well I say this to that statement. You should have thought about that before you decided to keep a large, permanent cast around for a decade. Because when you do, we connect with the characters, not the show.… Read more »
Love criminal minds all ncis’es and scorpion
The series turned out to be interesting after the departure of Thomas Gibson as Aaron Hotchner, season 12 dragged itself without great emotions.
Episodes without stories, without protagonist, appeals and cast without chemistry.
The major television networks have not noticed that in recent years, the viewer has been more demanding.
The format does not need to be reinvented. Just stop being predictable, boring or overly unlikely and above all, show efficiency in the pretense of entertaining, instead of irritating or provoking our indifference.
Hope that was your way of saying they should never have gotten rid of Gibson/Hotch. If it was, I am in full agreement. As it stands, I check these sites now only to see if CBS has come to their senses and is either bringing back our Hotch or will be dropping this show. I actually applaud when I see the ratings drop now, because to me, it means that the producers and the remaining cast are getting exactly what they deserve for destroying the only show on TV that was worth even five minutes of my time, let alone… Read more »
I agree one hundred percent!!
Thank You!
