This season, NBC has found ratings success with new TV series like The Blacklist and Chicago PD. Unfortunately, many of their other new shows — Sean Saves the World, The Michael J. Fox Show, Ironside, etc. — have been cancelled or soon will be. How is Crisis doing? Will it survive to see a second season or will it be cancelled as well?
An action/thriller series, Crisis finds out what might happen if the children of powerful people from Washington, DC were to be held hostage. The cast includes Dermot Mulroney, Rachael Taylor, Lance Gross, James Lafferty, Max Martini, Michael Beach, Stevie Lynn Jones, Halston Sage, Max Schneider, Joshua Erenberg, and Gillian Anderson.
The show debuted in mid-March to a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.5 million total viewers. It was a less-than-impressive start for Crisis and it was in second place in its timeslot.
The second episode dropped 17% in the demo and 21% in viewership. That would be a reasonable second week decline but the ratings were already low to start. Last night’s episode fell again, to a 1.0 in the demo and 4.32 million.
While it seems likely at this point that NBC will let all 13 episodes of Crisis air, it’s higly unlikely that the network will be ordering a second season. The numbers are just too low at these levels.
Hopefully the producers will give loyal fans some closure by the end of the first season because that’s likely all they’re going to get.
But, what do you think? Have you been watching Crisis on NBC? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Totally agree! This show did not have enough promotion to give it a chance. I love this show! I told my father about it after the first two episodes and he hadn’t even heard of it. After watching those 2 episodes online, he was hooked but now won’t bother to watch because of the cancellation rumors. Give this show the attention it deserves!
KEEP IT! Please! I like it! If Anything an actress like Gillian Anderson will save the show! RENEW
Keep it !!
KEEP IT! After episode one, I was hooked. The plot is unique and keeps you waiting for more.
Love the show! When one episode is done, cant wait for the next.
I happened to stumble on the first episode as I didn’t see any advertisement at all for it.
There was very little promotion for the show, I never say any kind of preview. I did see one interview with Dermot Mulroney. I happen upon it. It is ok, I would like it to move it a little faster. More content of what they bad guys are up to. It is also frustrating they haven’t missed a lick…the bad guys need to be in a crunch a little bit, it is unreasonable to have every step perfectly planned out. They are not mind readers. The FBI and secret service have hit obstacles. Also, as a parent, it is difficult… Read more »
Definitely a KEEP ! This story has some meat to it with quality actors. Quite frankly I’m surprised it isn’t at the top of the viewing list especially compared to some other shows on the air.
Very little promotion. great as a mini series, but with that plot.. not realistic to drag out more than 4-5 episodes then change to a different “crisis” lasting about the same amount of episodes.
Crisis did not get the pre accolades that shows like the Blacklist did get; i think the show was excellent and had a movie feel about it; if the show does not make it; blame NC for not pushing
I think you should keep it….. I like it….. You need to give these new shows more time. You start them off when other shows are on break then when the regular shows come back on you’re ready to cancel the new shows. KEEP IT !!!
Keep it. I enjoy watch the show on Sunday’s. I like the actors in the show and the story line. Give the show a chance to gain the audience in order to pull in good ratings.
KEEP IT. I’ll be disappointed if NBC cancel it but I like Crisis way better than Hostages on CBS.
i like it. the characters are great, unfortunately, i am watching either on demand or online and that doesn’t help ratings. hostages was annoying, i didn’t care about those characters at all. besides i had the impression it was supposed to be a mini series. obviously there has to be some closure before the season ends, but i vote to keep crisis.
Cancel the show, move it to Saturday night to burn off the remaining episodes.
What was the other show, oh yea Hostages. These should be 6 episodes at most.
Keep it. The actors are on point. I would really be disappointed if NBC didn’t give Crisis a chance to build the story line.
