We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

csi shows are my favorite if they cancel i wont be watching CBS.
What, cancel CSI NY, is CBS crazy? If the ratings have dropped CBS should look in the mirror, they have moved this hsow around and given it one of the crappiest time slots/days “Friday night death slot”.
In all honesty, CBS has done a disservcie to all the CSI shows by playing with their time slots and days, and not advertising them like they do their other shows. It is exhausting how many commercials you see for A Gifted Man and Blue Bloods – none of the CSI’s get this coverage; hmm seems good things get punished for doing well.
Since when is the age group 18-49 the only group that watches TV. CBS forgets other groups are far more intelligent and appriciate a good series with great actors. CBS used to have a great line up on Friday. Maybe we should send a message and not watch CBS at all!!!
Our favorite program has always been the original CSI and REALLY don’t want it to end. We would like to keep CSI NY too, and I don’t see the need to cancel them. Look at how much garbage is on tv that survives and yet, quality CSIs need to go??! CSI Miami isn’t worth wasting time on with it’s pregnant pauses and overly melodramatic scripts.
The CSI shows are the best shows on TV so they should be kept for as long as possible
RE CSI:NY…..LOVE this show and Gary Sinise. Please DO NOT CANCEL…..we need this type of program to keep us entertained!
CSI New York would survive with one minor change: Get rid of Sela Ward and bring back Stella. Anyone would be better than Ward with her perpetual smile. CSI New York is the best of the 3…but Danson and Shue look good on CSI Las Vegas.
Don’t cancel CSI New York, cancel CSI Las Vegas, it is no good any more.
I love CSI New York – by far, one of my favorite shows. I am in my 60’s and have watched this show since the beginning. Please do not cancel it.
I am just flaborgasted at even the thought of discontinuing CSI New York. I personnally can’t seem to envelop the Vegas one since Grissom left. I do love CSI Miami as well;hopefully you are not leaning towards discontinuing that as well. Remember Gunsmoke(20 years, I think), Dallas, and Falcon Crest lasted for many, many years.
I used to watch CSI but have not watched much at all since they killed off Warick. I changed to CSI NY about 6 months because I am a huge fan of Gary Sinise. I too wondered why they moved the 7:00 p.m. show to 8:00 without so much as a warning. I do not want to see the show cancelled.
I love CSI New York. I’ll be so disappointed if it is cancelled. The show is my treat, and I plan my evening chores around sitting down for an hour.
Please don’t cancel CSI NY. /this is my favorite show. I started watching NY first then all the rest after. I love the actors and they are the best show. Please find a way to work it out to keep them!
Renew it! Tv has VERY few shows intelligent enough for college grads to watch. This is one. We watch CSI, CSI NY, Person of Interest, Blue Bloods, Criminal minds, some ball games, and news. That’s IT. NO reality shows (hopelessly dumbass), no sitcoms (tried ’em all…. sorry. Each, again, hopelessly stupid. And you can take Miami off the air. Caruso, Dear God, it’s like listening to Howard Cosell. Sorry your mind is probably made up. Greg Hoblit ia right, you folks aren’t real high on the food chain.
CSI NY is the best of the three. we never miss it.
