We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

This is one of my favorite shows. If any one of the CSI shows that should be cancelled it’s CSI Miami. Please don’t cancel CSI:NY.
Do not cancel CSI:NY It’s a great show and there is so little worth watching on Friday night.
This is by far my favorite of the CSI shows. We do not watch the Miami one ever. Please continue the NY CSI show for another year or more.
Please renew it forever. It’s a consistently good show. And I for one am happy with watching it at 9 p.m. on a Friday after A Gifted Man. I am not happy with Undercover Boss. Cancel it.
I agree. Please do not cancel CSI NY or Miami. They are two of the very, very few shows I watch during the week. I look forward to them because they are often my only break from a busy, busy schedule. I insist everyone leave me alone long enough to watch those two shows when they come on. I’ve even started to watch CSI again. I like Ted Danson, so I’ve started watching it again after a long time not doing so because my favorite — can’t think of his name — Peterson, maybe, left the show. Keep them on,… Read more »
If any CSI should go first it should be CSI Miami. CSI New York has much better story lines and better acting in my opinion.
I watch all the CSI shows. I am astounded that New York has the lowest ratings. To me, it is the one with the best writing, best intelligent interwoven plots and the best ensemble cast. It’s passing will be mourned by me. For the record, the “gifted doctor” is a boring, undesering replacement. However, thanks to all involved in this series for providing us viewers and fans with great TV enjoyment.
Please don’t cancel CSI-NY! Our family loves the show and it’s time slot on Friday nites Plus welove the entire cast and the opening theme song by The WHO.
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL “CSI NY” I LOVE THIS SERIES!! I LOOK FORWARD TO THIS SHOW EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT AT 9PM. IT’S MY RELAXING TIME AND SERIES. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL MY FAVORITE SERIES. I LOVE ALL ACTORS ON THIS SERIES. GARY SINISE IS MY FAVORITE!!! I JUST LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CSI: NY and CSI: Miami are the only two which have stayed consistent but entertaining. CSI:Crime Scene has done nothing but continue to be disappointing. It would be a waste for the first two be cancelled. Can’t believe their number are down as they say since we live in Colorado Springs and our children live all over the US and we all along with many of our friends are die-hard CSI:NY/Miami followers. Hope they don’t take these two good shows off, everytime they take a good show off they replace it with trash.
I don’t feel any of the csi shows should be cancel. There is getting to be less shows on tv that I enjoy watching. Take the reality shows off. Theere is no acting in those but there is acting in tv shows such as the csi’s
Please keep CSI New York going for another season. Sela Ward is the best thing to happen to the show. I agree it was getting a little tiresome, but the last 2 seasons have been GREAT! Give them ALL another chance.
Please do NOT cancel CSI NY – Gary Sinise heads a brillant cast of actors –
actors who have established diversity in their characters personalities. The
has taught me more about CSI invesitgators and law enforcement. CSI NY
is a show worth viewing and should not be taken off the air. The CBS
executives need to have their heads examined if they take this show off the
air.
I think this is one of the best shows. Why do you have to cancel it.
This was one of the reasons I enjoyed Friday nights because of the line up with CDI New York, and Blue Blood.
Please do not cancel CSI NY or CSI Miami. Gary Sinise is one of the best actors in show business. Also seems like one of the greatest human beings ever. Thank You
I agree. I think they need new characters on both Miam an New York. I thing Gary Sinise is great and so is the main character in Miami. Law and order brought in new characters and a love interest this year it’s great.
