It looks like the fight to save the Dallas TV show is over — at least for now. After TNT cancelled the revival series after three seasons, fans rallied to save Dallas and studio Warner Horizon worked to find a new home. The latter’s efforts have come up empty.
Executive producer Cynthia Cidre and director Michael Robin released a joint statement to DallasDecoder to share the bad news:
Hi Friends,
Well, we have come to the end. After a 6-week attempt to try and land our beloved “Dallas” at another network, we have to inform you that we have not succeeded. Warner Horizon has attempted, in a Herculean way, to try and find us a new home, but at the end of the day it did not work out.
We so appreciate the outpouring of support by all of you, and the #SaveDallas campaign was a truly remarkable undertaking. We cannot fully express how much we loved making this show for you and with you. We had 3 wonderful years together, and we had the times of our lives bringing this iconic show back to television. Thank you for your support; thank you for your loyalty to our wonderful characters; and thank you for watching our show.
We wish you all our very best, and thank you again for loving “Dallas.”
With great admiration and appreciation,
Cynthia Cidre and Michael Robin
The new Dallas ran for three seasons on TNT and ended with several cliffhangers. Hopefully, Cidre and Robin will share what they had in mind for season four at some point.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Dallas won’t be returning for a fourth season? Would you like to see the Ewings come back some day?
I am absolutely heartbroken that Dallas is not returning. I loved the new series as much as the original series. I was anxiously waiting for the next season to start. So, so disappointed! Please someone pick it up!!
I just got done watching season 3 and all I can say is WOW! Cynthia Cidre and Michael Robin what an excellent job of giving the viewers a great show. You took this show, it’s characters, the story line to places one didn’t even see coming. Touchy, taboo, and terrifying to say the least. As always in the Ewing clan as long as they work together as a family they will suceed, even the bullheaded, the ones with their weakness, and the rocks who keep them balanced. It was great to read the credits and seeing that Patrick Duffy was… Read more »
Keep trashy reality shows but cancel old time tv shows that generations of intelligent viewers love and actually are entertaining and have intelligent writers, producers and directors. I hate to see what my children are going to have to watch in the future. TNT network has lost my support. Trash trash…..
I have been a Dallas fan since the show first aired in the seventy’s and have not missed a single show. I was so happy to hear it was coming back and can not believe that they cancelled the 4 season. How can these network executive’s continue the trashy reality shows and cancel shows that actually entertain and have talented writers, producers and directors. I can’t imagine what my children have to look forward to watching in the future. TNT network is off my must watch list. They have lost actual intelligent people who want to watch good old fashion… Read more »
Also want to express my extreme disappointment for the cancellation of Dallas. They did a wonderful job with selecting the perfect people to play in the show. My husband grown to like the show very much also. With this cancellation and Longmire and others, I am considering dropping cable TV and start reading. Not only would I save a ton of money, I would not have to be concerned my book is being cancelled before I am done reading it.
GOOD GRIEF! FINALLY, I got my husband interested in a TV Show and IT’S BEEN CANCELED? ARE YOU SERIOUS? This show had some terrific acting and characters. GIVE IT A CHANCE, TNT. I’m so sick of this. Some of the BEST Shows are canceled. 8:00 PM, Sunday Night is when it should air; not in the middle of the week.
I can’t believe they are taking Dallas off the air. I live and breath Dallas. This is the only show on TV that is or could be real. How can you leave us hanging like this? Please take the other junk off TV and save Dallas. There are a lot more seasons that can be written
!
I have to agree with most of the posters here that shows on TV always get cancelled that are good I thought the show was very interesting kept me very excited to see the show very disappointed that yet another TV show is canceled and what we have on TV is trash all these dumb reality shows I think to myself I should come up with some dumb reality show and maybe that’ll air all that it out there are people watching some stupid thing like that too bad ,they have to keep cancelling good shows I thought the plots… Read more »
I am sorry Dallas will not air any more really enjoyed watching that program. Why can’t we keep the good things on and get rid of the junk?
It seems that the people in charge at TNT are only really good at canceling great tv series like Franklin and bash and now dallas! Not to mention past series such as Boston legal and Las Vegas! If that’s what the execs are thriving to be good at the are the best. Seems to me they are also really good at getting people to watch other channels because of canceling shows such as dallas. Keep up the good work!
I agree with the person who watched Franklin and Bash and the other tnt shows they were all great shows and not on anymore is a sin shame on you tnt.
I watched Dallas growing up and thought after all these years they brought it back with the original cast but from a different view , I believe it is a shame the show is cancelled simply it was awesome and well put together and great story lines even than the original.
Bring Dallas Back
I loved the first Dallas and loved it when TNT started it again. I would have watched season 4 and am truly sad they cancelled, I know they had a lot of loyal fans and I am sad I won’t be able to watch it.
I don’t know how to say this, but you keep JUNK on tv and cancel Dallas. I am done with TNT ….their are many people that are so upset that Dallas has not been picked up or signed by someone who appreciates this GREAT show. I am shocked ….I LOVED DALLAS and I know I am not alone.
I cannot believe that you would take a classic off. I can remember watching old Dallas with my grandmother and mother. I have even got my girls into watching it! TV shows are not the same anymore…
Just heard that the show has been cancelled and I am in shock. Hubby and I were looking forward to season 4. I hope someone will pick up this exciting show.
