It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
I love Dallas I would watch it on any channel. It was wrong to leave all of us hanging like you did. Please put it back on. yhank you
Sorry for the typos. ..but JR knew about Christopher. I may remember that incorrectly, however we didn’t have Pam written back in and the bomb about Christophes parentage because Pam also knew. That would have guaranteed another season. Lets find away to resurrect Christopher and have a codicil to Jr’s will recognizing Christopher. i wish i could write myself and pitch it. Another post mentioned it had a storyboard that appealed to multiple generations.
They are crazy for cancelling Dallas! I’m 48 yrs old and watched Dallas when it was originally on the air years ago. This show is the bomb! – Anytime a person can sit down and watch 60 seconds of the new show and be HOOKED & feel as if nothing’s changed, as if they were watching the original. These are superior actors and a really, really, really, really, REALLY GREAT show! – The entire old cast & new cast should all be celebrated and acknowledged on one of these award shows because it’s amazing to possess the ability to grasp… Read more »
Dallas meant a lot to many of us. The show had so many great actors that made you feel like Dallas was back. It had drama, great writing. It had a lot of potential and meaning.
It was so much better than the non sense that is being produced.
They deserve a finale at least to end Dallas family history.
Bring them back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i watch all three seasons and let me tell you that it was outstanding. The Ewings are still the The Ewings J.R.’s son is just like his daddy ruthless and honorable at the same time, Bobby is still the glue that holds everything together and Sue Ellen is still the classy and smart drunk. This show should be on tv and needs to be on TV, I’m a die-heart Dallas fan for life, I would watch this TV show on any network.
Being a fan of Dallas from the get go I would in deed watch on any channel to follow the Ewings wheel and deal as they did in past would be great and besides how can we leave a. Show not knowing how Bobby copes with loss of his son and what has John Ross want with his half. Sister it would be great to know
I am so very sorry Dallas is cancelled. I was equally sorry to see Christopher killed off. I don’t think you should be concerned so much about 18 to 35 year olds watching. I’m in mid 50s and those of us who watched Dallas from the start were ecstatic to see Bobby , Sue Ellen, Ray, Lucy and of course, JR. The new people also showed great promise, every one of them., especially the Ewing offspring. PLEASE FIND A WAY TO BRING IT BACK!
I would definitely watch it on another station
I loved the new Dallas series and watched every episode! I watched the old one as well and thought the second one was just as good! Of course losing Larry Hagman & JR was tragic, but the episodes after his death were great! I’m terribly disappointed that it was cancelled!! I still waiting to see what happened as they left us hanging at the end of the season! With all the trash tv on it was a breath of fresh air! I’d give anything if someone would pick it back up but only with the same actors! Not right for… Read more »

I look forward to this show all the time I think if you had it in the winter season it would be a great success
I am so dissapointed that Dallas was not renewed for a 4th season. I was waiting patiently for the new season promo and start date. I would DEFINITELY watch if it moved to another channel. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!
I’m very upset and disappointed that the show was cancelled. Ii use to watch the original Dallas when it first came on years ago and the I couldn’t believe how you just picked up on the show from the original series it was awesome. The characters were great I just kept wanting more couldn’t wait for the next episode. I felt you left us hanging we at least deserved a great ending to awesome show. Still hoping it comes back on even if somebody else picks it up. I must say to all the characters you made me proud you… Read more »
I am very disapointed that they have cancelled the show Dallas. I watched the original series from start to finish. I was not sure that it would survive losing the J.R. character but was surprised that it still stayed interesting and the other characters kept it that way. If you put it on another station I will watch it. I can’t believe that there were not enough folks watching the show as it was so fast moving in its plot.
They waited too long to reveal Christopher’ s true parentage. Loyal viewers of the original knew JR and Sue Ellen’s sister were the characters fathet image what drama would have followed. . The producers dropped the ball.
