It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
Very disappointed. My husband and I watch Dallas all the time . It.s a great show.
I watched Dallas since the 1970s an cant beleive they have cancelled the show. I named my daughter after Kristin from the 70s version of the show , although the storyline this season was a little out there I think they could have corrected this and continued the show. I will miss this show once again and hope possibly they can fix the problems from last season and bring this show back
OMG! I can’t believe it! It is such an Awesome show! I could not wait for the next Monday to see what wld happen next! Amazing writers and amazing cast! I wld definitely whatch it on another station! I am in total disbelief!
Dallas was my favorite TV show. I just took a trip to Southfork in June. Since it was the last and only thing I watched on TNT guess I’m done with them. Could’ve tried giving them a regular season instead of the 5 episodes here and there. Another bad move TNT.
So sad we loved the show and sad to see it cancelled. Won’t be watching tnt any more
I am shocked that Dallas won’t be back. I watched the first Dallas, from the beginning. Every Friday night, at 9:00 p.m. I even named my youngest daughter Kristin after sue Ellen’s sister Kristin. So when they brought it back, I was thrilled. The way they left this last episode I couldn’t wait for it to return. Soooooooo disappointed. Now what?
I am refusing to watch anything on TNT now! I loved Dallas so much my daughter and I made sure we were together watching it! Please have another station pick it up, I vow to watch every episode !!!
I would definantly see it on a different channel. It was stupid to put Dallas series on Monday night especially during football season. They didn’t have a chance!!!
Big mistake. I loved Dallas. What is TNT putting on another reality show? Maybe another network will smarten up and pick up Dallas, good by TNT
I’m so sad it’s over! I grew up watching this show with my mom, and watched every single episode again on Deja View channel which made me fall in love again! When this new season started, my in laws and I would drop absolutely everything and watch the episode together. We love it and have to say we’re addicted to it! It’s so good. The writers are so clever the way they bring old characters back and old things back to life. It’s amazing. I’m so upset that it’s over
TNT’s slide continues as far as their original dramas are concerned. I liked Dallas, not my favorite but watchable, and would have rather seen it renewed than that awful Murder in the First. I hope they don’t renew Legends, it’s just bad. The TNT lineup is going downhill fast as is USA’s. Still can’t believe USA renewed Satisfaction. Bottom line the “key demo” that drives renewals and what we see on TV has no idea what good scripted programming is, just throw on more fake reality shows where people act badly and they will be happy.
How can they know what good scripted programming is if they have never experienced it in their 18-24 year old lives.
Bravo! And fully agree with both of you snowdogmom and Michael Wiseman and add that TNT and the ABC Mickey Mouse TV Network ought to simply be blown up and self-destruct and never be seen,or heard from ever again! Too bad TNT brass don’t have brains enough to pick up ABC ‘s Cancelled show Killer Women as it was pure dynamite and Texas Ranger Molly was so hot looking that she must have frightened the Timid Little Mice at the Mickey Mouse TV Network to death! So I say let both TNT and ABC Mickey Mouse TV Network eat cheese… Read more »
I will watch it on any channel. Soooooo disappointed. 🙁
I think it should be renewed..with weekly episodes..for a 5 month time frame as a season. This 4 episode 6 episodes seasons make everything fly by..let the drama build..geez! This show was alot better than the fake reality crap shoved down our throats at every turn..we looked forward to an escape of the baby mama drama..
You got to be kidding me. Finally get something good on then then you got to let it go. How disappointing.
Thank God … I thought they’d never leave!
