It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
OMG!!! Please do not cancel this show!!!!! I love Dallas!!!!
I was really looking forward to the next season- Juan Pablo is gorgeous, and wanted to see him become more dangerous and more exciting in the future. Hope TNT will re-consider cancelling.
Dallas is a Great show a mistake to cancel it
I think this decision is a slap in the face to ALL of the Mid 40 to 70 year olds who followed the Original Series from 1978-1991. There isn’t much entertainment of this sorts left for us ‘Baby Boomers.’ It’s really a slap in the face leaving the viewers hanging after such a cliff hanger. Larry Hagman is literally clawing his way out of his casket and making his way to TNT Headquarters. Thank you Patrick, Linda, and Kn for a wonderful ride. Long Live “The Ewings.”

You are looking at the wrong demographic – should be looking at the over 50 ! TNT execs are to young obviously!
Bring Dallas back. Loved it
It just doesn’t make sense – how can they leave us hanging!?
Why do they air the series at times when it’s competing against major broadcasts –
the ratings dropped at the end, when football started.
Bring back Dallas TNT – really, it’s the only show I have watched on your network- and we watch it a 2nd time on demand every week – big mistake to cancel!!
don”t just dont” will watch dallas on another network the mrs and i love love dallas
This announcement has just infuriated anyone who’s been watching this show! I hope TNT gets what they deserve in cancelling this cool ‘soap’. I’m hoping some bigwigs at another network see the clamoring and decide to pick up “Dallas”, ’cause it’s a great show! Screw the 18-49 demographic!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DON’T CANCEL DALLAS!! I don’t care if it needs to move to another channel, another day, another time. I was HOOKED on Dallas in the 80’s and was so excited to see it return!! Don’t take good television away from us!!!!!!
Don’t cancel Dallas.
I think this is one bad mistake for TNT!!!!!!
I loved the show and don’t want it to be taken off it gave me something to look forward to on Monday night I got so excited it was time for my show to come on
Disappointed to learn that Dallas will not continue. I thought John Ross did a good job of reflecting JR and his ruthlessness which was so central to the show. It was good to see Bobby and Sue Ellen again too, almost like meeting up with folks we used to know.
Sorry guess we people over 49 have no say anymore. Get a life, we do still matter! We are the ones watching TV.
