It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
Nooooo, I can believe Dallas is being cancelled. I watched the first Dallas from beginning to end and Knots Landing as well. My family and i have been avid Dallas fans getting together to watch on the edge of out seats every Monday . It was getting better and better. What a shame TNT is canceling such a great series. The loss will be theirs!! Hopefully a real network will pick it up!!
OMG. I dvr Dallas every season so I don’t miss anything. I need season 4!! Bring it back!!!!!!!
Such a great show. I think there was to much time between season break. I think people did not know it was back on. TNT big mistake!
I would definitely watch it on a different channel. It was a fantastic show! Even better then the first time around. Very, very sad.
Big mistake! I hope another network picks it up
I am so disappointed that Dallas is canceled, this is the one show I look forward to every week. If I can’t watch it live I record it and watch it as soon as possible. TNT is constantly disappointing me with their lineup.
This is ridiculous! Dallas is an awesome show and if TNT is cancelling then another, smarter network needs to pick the show up. I feel that if it aired on a normal station ie ABC, CBS, NBC then they would see ratings go up. Not a smart move on TNT’s upper management.
I love this show my wife and I looked forward to it every week what the hell are you thinking??????
I watched Dallas every week. And enjoyed it. And of course it gets cancelled WHY? Put it back on TV. Something enjoyable instead of some of the CRAP reality on now.
AMEN!!!!
One of the best dramas on TV… 30 yrs. ago; Larry Hagman was only recognized as JR Ewing.. Josh Henderson WAS the next JR; this new DALLAS was always edge of your seat from beginning to end..Judith Light was incredible.. the writers KNOW good Tv.. TNT; not so much.. Any other network would renew!! All the other TNT shows are predictable/boring…DALLAS left me wanting more!! TNT LOST ANOTHER VIEWER!!
I wish they didn’t cancelled Dallas and I like that show.
I thought Dallas was getting better every episode. Hopefully another network will pick it up. Please!!
Hey Marilyn yes agree with you fully and sure do hope “Dallas” finds a new home soon!

Noooo! One of my favorites! Please someone pick this show up!!!
I didn’t always get to watch it but when I did I always enjoyed it. I wish you would reconsider it. I can’t believe it has already been canceled. There is such a LONG break in between seasons people probably didn’t realize it was even back on.
This is very true! I only found out it was back on because I follow it on Facebook. I don’t watch anything else on TNT so I’m not on that station to see advertising.
Dallas should go to another channel and be put on for a spring-summer run on Wednesdays. It did not belong on Monday nights. TNT is not a network that knows what it is doing. It is is turmoil there with new people heading up the drama division.
TNT has a drama division ?
Michael Wright is departing his post as president and head of programming at TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies. The move comes as Turner initiates voluntary buyout offers to more 500 staffers as part of a company-wide cost-cutting plan. A 12-year veteran of Turner, Wright originally took over programming for TNT in 2004 and by 2007 oversaw programming for all three networks. Just two days ago, TNT declared victory in the summer ratings race, finishing as the the No. 1 cable network in primetime with its original series averaging 5.6 million primetime viewers in Nielsen live-plus-seven ratings.
