Although VH1 concentrates on reality TV shows, it does continue to try out new scripted series. Its hip hop drama, The Breaks did well enough to score a second season renewal, but is moving to BET (which is also owned by VH1’s parent-company, Viacom). Now, they’ve introduced the new satirical dramedy, Daytime Divas. Will it be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
Based on the Star Jones novel, Satan’s Sisters, the Daytime Divas TV show stars Vanessa Williams, Tichina Arnold, Fiona Gubelmann, Chloe Bridges, Camille Guaty, Kristen Johnston, and McKinley Freeman. The VH1 series centers on the backstage drama between the cast of The Lunch Hour, a daytime talk show. Each weekday at noon, Maxine (Williams), Mo (Arnold), Heather (Gubelmann), Kibby (Bridges), and Nina (Guaty) talk about politics, entertainment, lifestyle topics, and gossip like true friends. The real action, though, happens off the air and centers on the hosts’ secret affairs, power struggles, schemes, and tantrums.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
