The men and women of Detroit Homicide are smart and tough but there’s one problem that’s going to take them down. Their Detroit 1-8-7 TV show’s been getting poor ratings and, unless things change fast, it’s going to be cancelled by ABC.
What can you do? Remember, the ideal scenario for ABC is for many millions of people to watch the show on their television sets, while it’s being broadcast. Unfortunately, ratings are put together based on a sampling of viewers. If you’re a “Nielsen household,” your viewing is being counted. If not, it’s not.
However, if you like Detroit 1-8-7 and want to see it continue, there are a few things you can do to help.
- If you’re a Nielsen family, watch the show whenever it’s on. If not, watch it on ABC.com or purchase episodes online so your viewing will be directly counted. Encourage others to watch the show. You might know a Nielsen family and not be aware of it.
- Talk about the show with others; at school, at work, online, or wherever. Creating a buzz about a show that you’re invested in gets other people interested and might help bring former viewers back.
- Sign the petition below and encourage others to do the same.
- Write to the network. Be respectful. Everyone responds better to courtesy. Tell them how much you enjoy the show, that you’ve signed the petition, and that you want to see it continue. - Call the network at (818) 460-7477 and leave a comment. Be polite and tell them how much you like the show.
- Take note of the products that are advertised during the show. Write the advertisers and tell them that you appreciate their sponsoring the show and that you buy their products (if you do).

Am gobsmacked there's no Searies 2,I've jus watched all but 3 episodes after finding it on IMDb in jus two days,I was captivated by the awesome writing,script an casting,As a fan of the Wire ,I know a winner when I see one.I'm Engish and although embroiled in all the fantastic plots,the plight of Detroit town moved me to tears.I'm truly gutted there's no second season,I've just paused episode 15 because I don't wanna watch the remaining eps as I don't wanna say goodbye to the Homocide division.I hope someone can pull it together,I'm a huge SVU fan but I'd tune into this 5 nights a week if I could.I've been telling all my family to watch it now I'm gonna have to tell em the bad news. I've bn watching cop tv shows for yrs incl
Law & order all 13 seasons of SVU and I've lost count of L&O Original. I was gutted when Elliot left L&O SVU and don't think its been the same since. As soon as I started watching Detroit 187 I knew this as difficult sad it is was the replacement for SVU. It's gritty, funny, gripping and the music is amazing. If u didn't run a season 2 ul b losing a lot of viewers, respect as a production company & what I am sure is important to ABC; a lot of money so I urge u to reconsider and quickly before ur fans lose momentum or respect for ABC

I have only recently discovered Detroit 187 on Hulu. I have finished the last available episode and was so disappointed the series was discontinued. I cannot imagine why. It was an excellent storyline with wonderful actors. Please bring it back. It was well defined series and deserves to return.

Being an avid watcher of all cop shows, this series was the most excellent by far.
The music was fantastic, the filming as gritty and exciting as the show it self. The acting was riveting. I have never seen a detective show with such an excellent cast.
I assume it was a combination of the director and all the personalities of the actors, as they say the captain of the ship indicates the level of the crew. It was enthralling, exciting and most of all captivating. I am a captive and want more. I wish I had some power to decide to bring this series back, it was truly wonderful. Thank you all for this most excellent show.

Detroit 1-8-7 reignited my heart for my city of "birth." I have been in another state for the past 22 years. The show gave me insight and brought me up to date on life in the city today. My parents were born and raised there. I knew this city, rode the buses and visited my grandparents. The story line was intriguing and the cast and characters believable. Some of the episodes prompted me to dialog with my mom about the riots (I was 6 then) and the purple gang, and the gambling-my dad's a gambler. The urban landscape is as beautiful as Roman ruins. Way to go ABC. Bring it back.

it's been about a year now? i'm still baffled as to why abc would cancel the most well written show they have had in years. it was refreshingly different. i liked that there were several mysteries being solved per episode and that the characters were believable and lovable. what show is it's competition?!

I watched the first seasonm and really liked it. I especiallly liked the seaso finale and have been waiting for months to find out what happens. Unless you bring back the show i will never know what happens. Please bring this show back it was great.

Please bring back Detroit 187. I was hooked on it from the first episode because it was so good, love the cast, they are all great plus very compelling story lines, a truly excellent cop show that is better than any other one I've ever seen, and I'm a cop show junkie! You MUST bring this one back!

I am from Detroit. The show perfectly captures the lives of homicide detectives as well as the community and vibe, in wich Detroit gives. The music and location of the show is perfect. However this was more than just NYPD or CSI. This show gave me laughs, tears and the "whats gonna happen next" appeal as well. Its a shame to disgard this show for not a second season. I went to Best Buy to pick up season 1....they told me they were sold out!!!! Its making money obviously. Please bring it back
