Well, that was quick. After just two weeks, CBS has pulled their new Doubt TV show from the Wednesday schedule. Has the series been cancelled? Will it be back?
The Doubt TV show stars Katherine Heigl as Sadie Ellis; Elliot Gould as Isaiah Roth; Laverne Cox as Cameron Wirth; Dreama Walker as Tiffany Simon; and Kobi Libii as Nick Brady. Sadie is a brilliant attorney who starts to fall for her charismatic client. Pediatric surgeon Billy Brennan (Steven Pasquale) was recently accused of murdering his girlfriend, 24 years ago. Sadie has to hide her growing feelings from everyone, including her close friend and colleague, Albert Cobb (Dulé Hill). Getting involved with her client could put Sadie’s career and happiness at risk — particularly if Billy is found guilty. She must work all the harder to prove reasonable doubt, even while she has some doubts of her own.
When the series debuted two weeks ago, there was no “doubt” that the new CBS drama series was already in trouble. The premiere attracted a meager 0.76 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.31 million viewers. This week’s installment drew a 0.60 rating with 4.03 million. Those figures are just too low for “the most-watched network” and CBS has now pulled Doubt from the schedule.
On March 1st, Doubt will be replaced by a rerun of Bull and, on March 8th, CBS will launch the second season of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. While CBS has not officially cancelled Doubt, there’s no chance that they’ll be renewing it for a second season.
The network ordered 13 episodes of Doubt and all of them have reportedly been completed. Prior to the series being pulled, CBS had only scheduled four more installments of Doubt. In the past, CBS has burned off leftover episodes of cancelled series on Saturday nights over the summer months.
What do you think? Do you like the Doubt TV show? Do you think that CBS should cancel the series? Would you watch the remaining episodes?
CBS- Run the remaining episodes.
Give your good series a chance to attract and build an audience as word-of-mouth spreads. Remember Star Trek + MASH took some time to take off into mega-hits.
I thought it was pretty good. I would watch it. I think only 2 episodes are not enough to gadge a shows merit.
I would watch them. I liked it. so sick of shows I like being cancelled. I hate CBS for giving us 2 episodes then pulling the plug so fast. Bad idea.
Just found it! Sad the show wasn’t given a chance
I just watched 2nd episode last night! Are you kidding me CBS? At least let it run the 13 episodes. Is this really a way to run a business?
Right? Like one lick of a lollipop!
CBS why cancel Doubt. Finally a good show comes on and you cancel it. I’m so mad!!!!!
Extremely disappointed in CBS Execs who cancelled DOUBT which I found to be thought provoking. I urge them to make any episodes available for viewing ON DEMAND. For the first time, a transgendered person was portrayed as a competent professional woman. Katherine Heigel and Elliott Gould were amazing in their roles.
Are they just doing that to raise hype? I dont like those tactics. I loved the show and started recording all episodes. I love Katherine Heigl and Lavern Cox. I loved her in Orange is the new Black. And Katherine in Greys Anatomy.
This is a ridiculous decision without warrent and I don’t believe the ratings report.
Bad idea, CBS! Bad idea! First, you’ve ordered 13 episodes and now you’ve cancelled Doubt after just 2 episodes. I would’ve liked to watch all 13 episodes. Episode 3 hasn’t hit the ratings high or low, yet. Reconsider, please. Someone better make a campaign to make CBS broadcast all 13 episodes of Doubt on change.org.
I really like Doubt!! Liked all the characters in the show!! Give it a chance to bring in more viewers!
I would watch the remaining episodes. It’s too early for me to determine if I like it enough to become a faithful viewer but I’m definitely intrigued enough to give it more time. I’ll disappointed in you, CBS.
What a huge mistake canceling Doubt! It was the best show I have seen in a very long time. Very mad.
Can not believe this show was cancelled so quickly. I liked it and was looking forward to seeing it next week. You as in the powers to be should bring Doubt back to the lineup.
I really Like Doubt and just recommended it to my adult children who were going to start watching it. Two weeks is not enough time to give a show to succeed. I am very disappointed that they cancelled it.
We really liked it, but as someone else said, that is a jinx! Too bad, it really had promise
