ABC’s had mixed success with their new shows this year, but what about Downward Dog? The TV show just premiered in May and we want to know if you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season.
Based on the web series of the same name, the comedy follows the day-to-day life of Nan (Allison Tolman), as told by her increasingly lonely and philosophical dog, Martin (voiced by Samm Hodges). The cast also includes Lucas Neff, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Barry Rothbart, Siovhan Christensen, Ayden Mayeri, and Andrew Gorell.
Downward Dog has brought in pretty poor ratings for ABC so far. Currently, the sitcom is earning an average rating of 0.87 in the 18-49 demo and 4.40 million viewers. The network held the comedy until very late in the season and produced just eight episodes — likely signs that ABC doesn’t have a lot of faith in the show.
However, even with falling ratings, does Downward Dog deserve a second chance in your book? What do you think? Should ABC renew this canine comedy or cancel it?

I would be BEYOND disappointed if this gets cancelled! It’s so different than anything else currently airing and Martin’s observations crack me up! It would be a shame to lose this original program and have more of the typical garbage that fills up time slots. I could definitely do a little less with Martin saying “Like” all the time but other than that, it’s perfect. Super sweet and refreshing comedy!

I am loving this show! Its been a while that I have found a show on ABC that really grabbed me, Downward Dog is it!!
Saw it for the 1st time last night then binge watched previous episodes. Loved it!!! Telling family and friends about it. This show is a breath of fresh air! Not a fan of comedy series, most are ditzy, silly. This show is original, innovative. Real people, real life issues, love the look at life through The eyes of the dog. It’s been years since Ive found a comedy show on a major network that I would commit to.
Are you kidding me. It is one of the most enjoyable shows I have seen in a long time. Please do not cancel this show.
