Maybe a grown-up Nancy Drew series wasn’t a good idea after all. Sarah Shahi, star of the rejected CBS pilot Drew, recently discussed what went wrong with the show, Zap2It reports.
Drew featured Shahi as an adult version of the famous young girl detective. The cast also included Anthony Edwards and Felix Solis.
On a recent episode of the podcast Doug Loves Movies, Shahi was frank about the quality of the pilot:
We did a pilot. It didn’t go. It didn’t go and I’m very happy it didn’t go. It was not good.”
She added that CBS didn’t pick up the series because they said it was “too female”:
They said the reason they didn’t pick the show up was because it was too female. My response was like, ‘I don’t remember us talking about tampons and our, like, placentas and our cycles on the show.’ So I don’t know what was too female about it.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Nancy Drew? Would you have watched Drew?
I’m glad they didn’t pick it up either. I wouldn’t have watched it. This is the network that got rid of Supergirl, which did a 1.5+ average. The ratings for this would have been worse.
