This was a positive start for the new series, particularly in viewership, but the demo could have been stronger — especially considering the fairly lackluster competition (Scandal on ABC and Rock Center with Brian Williams on NBC).
Compared to the season premiere of The Mentalist a year ago, CBS was up by 10% in the demo (vs a 2.8 rating) and down by 1% in viewers (vs 13.56 million).
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Elementary TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a second season?
I rarely like shows this. This idea been done to death. But the chemistry and dry humor makes this one of the best shows on TV today.
Great show
I love this show. I was expecting it to be pretty bad, instead it’s really good. I would be terribly disappointed if it weren’t renewed for at least another season.
I really hope nobody makes the mistake of cancelling this show. I hadn’t heard of it until just recently and didn’t get around to watching an episode for about 2 months after I had been told about Elementary, but only because I had been dissapointed by so many different series (in recent years), that I did not believe I would like it even if I did give it a chance. After watching the first episode, I completely fell in love with the show and watched every episode (only 10 episodes were available at the time) in one night. In one… Read more »
One of the best new shows in awhile. I’d hate to see it cancelled because I looked forward to this show every week. I love it. It started out slow but got better each week. It shouldn’t be shown opposite Vampire Diaries because it has been on a long time and has a faithful viewing audience who don’t get a chance to see Elementary unless it shows reruns during off season. That is why so many of my other favorite shows were cancelled before they got a chance. I don’t know why they always put the new shows up against… Read more »
Should have been cancelled in first 15 minutes of first show. Miller is much better actor than they are allowing him to be and Lu is NOT watson.
Can’t believe CBS will cancel it since it’s their most successful new series, and they have a number of other shows doing poorly in the ratings.
Extremely well written and acted show. Just love it. But, that probably means its too intelligent for the average viewer and therefore will be cancelled by CBS before it finds a larger audience. Probably should have been on HBO, Showtime or PBS and it would have been around for a very long time.
Love this show, has become one of my favorites. Great chemistry between Sherlock and Watson.
I think it’s a good show, but not that amaazing. It is more of a show I watch in my spare time, not a show to become a fan of.
I am quite a Holmes fan, and I have to say that I don’t like Elementary’s view of Sherlock.
But I guess I am not being fair enough, since I’m a BBC’s Sherlock fan and it is hard to like another holmes show when you’ve seen such an amazing one before.
I think it will get second season, I mean, it has a great amount of viewers…
It’s a pretty ho-hum show, at best, using extremely transparent writing devices to give Sherlock the appearance of being outstandingly brilliant, however most of the “brilliant” moments are clues that are never given to the audience, locking the viewers outside of the fun that most mysteries involve their viewers in – comparing clues to figure out whodunit. This show basically leaves the viewer as nothing more than that, a spectator of a pompous consultant gathering off-screen clues to save the day. Yawn.
My husband and I tune in each week and have become avid fans of this newest take on a classic character(s). Please keep it coming . . . the actors seem at the top of their game and the story lines continue to intrigue.
This is BY FAR my favorite show on TV. when I read the bios of the characters, I realized why. Both actors are very intelligent on a number of different levels, and are dedicated to accurately portraying the strengths and flaws of their characters. They also have continued to develop their character together in a unique way. I’m addicted, too!
When I saw the first episode I did not think I could become hooked BUT I AM,BIG TIME! Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu play off each other SO WELL! PLEASE KEEP THIS SHOW GOING AND GOING. I love it! I record it so I never miss it.
Love this show!
