Set your ratings-based deductions aside. The Elementary TV show has been renewed for season six on on CBS. The modern-day Sherlock Holmes TV series adaptation has evaded the Television Vulture, for yet another season.
Set in New York City, Elementary follows detective Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) and Dr. Joan Watson (Lucy Liu). The CBS cast also includes Aidan Quinn as Captain Thomas Gregson and Jon Michael Hill as Detective Marcus Bell. Together, they investigate the Big Apple’s trickiest cases.
In mid-April, we polled our readers and asked if they would watch a sixth season of Elementary. As of drafting this article, 87% said they would, while 4% voted “no,” and 9% gave it a “maybe.” What do you say? The poll is still open. Vote now.
Elementary: A Look at the Ratings
The fifth and final season of Elementary is averaging a 0.65 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.878 million viewers. Compared to season four, that’s down by 32.15% and 15.01%, respectively. When you compare how the Elementary ratings stack up against those of other CBS TV shows, this renewal means luck is on the side of Elementary viewers.

This is a good show and a wonderful twist on the Conan Doyle characters. It is well written, character development is present and enjoyable and it an intelligent show. It is the only show that I watch.
I enjoy watching Elementary on Sunday nights. Ends the evening of great CBS shows. Glad to hear it has been renewed. A word of advice to the folks so concerned with ratings…you are too focused on an outdated and wrong age group. People under 25 don’t watch regular TV and most people 30 and over don’t have a lot of disposable income due to mortgages, car leases and raising young families. Just saw that Elementary has been renewed for season 6…thank you, thank you, thank you!!! This is our favorite show and we hope it goes on for many more seasons. This is what is rare on TV these days…an actual HIGH QUALITY show! Thank you again!!
The renewal is not a surprise at all. It’s running on cable and is running in syndication–and CBS owns the show, so it’s printing money for them. Why the networks continue to buy shows from outside suppliers is baffling to me. To place all series back on an equal playing field, all CBS shows should come from Paramount, all NBC shows from Universal, all ABC show from Disney, all Fox shows from Fox, and all CW shows from Warner Bros. or Paramount. (Sorry Sony, you’re always going to come up short till you get your own national network…)
Because of it’s time slot with revolving time starts it made watching or DVR difficult. Nothing seems to do well on Sunday night following sports.
My family and I are very disappointed that “Last Man Standing” has been cancelled. The only family show worth watching and now gone…. and they keep running the rubbish . Sorry but I do not understand the thinking behind American TV production, rid us of the watchable and keep the crap!!!!!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who tires of sports delays. The DVR runneth over because of feetsball games. If I wanted to watch a bunch of thugs run around and get tackled, I’d watch COPS…

I think ELEMENTARY (Lucy Liu) is okay & yes I’ll watch (& multi-task). Would prefer to have seen pickup of MISSION CONTROL (Poppy Montgomery).

Well, I guess I’ll still be watching CBS then! Had Elementary gone, I would have unprogrammed the network from my antenna system. So thank you, cbs, for doing the right thing finally! (after they treated Person of Interest so poorly and killed off Limitless, I was sure CBS hated smarts shows…) Also, when Timeless was canceled, I deleted the remaining shows I had recorded but had had not time to watch. Now it’s back, sigh! I’ll catch up with summaries .
Forget the ratings some people out there don’t know a great program when they see one, Elementary is a great program & im glad it’s been renewed for a season 6 & I think it should go on for a S7, S8 etc.
