The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

Don’t want this cancelled , it was so good , I wanted Adam to find his family .
I haven’t watched an ABC show for years!!!! This was the first is even found remotely interesting. Why would it be cancelled?!
Really getting tired of all these shows getting cancelled all the time. The Family is an awesome show and should be renewed for a season 2. Maybe for once ABC will listen to its viewers!
My son and I loved this show. I can’t believe you cancelled it. Actually yes I can…not a lot of smart people out there anymore…stupid people don’t watch smart well written dramas they want crap reality TV shows.
I really liked this tv show I even got my daughter hooked on it too. Please have atleast one more season.
I can’t believe this show is cancelled! They didn’t even give it a chance! There are so many s*** shows on TV …and all the good ones aren’t given a chance. This was a great show….they have to bring it back!!

I’ve watched this from the beginning & have thoroughly enjoyed it. Someone here called it “Criminal Minds meets Law & Order”. I agree. This truly has been an incredible show, unlike any I’ve seen. The plot is original & creative as well as thought provoking. And yes, the cliff-hanger ending makes you wanna see went happens next! Also, as a gay man myself, I was pleased to see not one but two openly gay characters! That’s a big step in visibility for LGBTQ people on TV. But now they’re shoved back in the closet! OMG!!!!!!! Why would you even think if cancelling this program????? I am on the edge of my seat every week!!!! I so look forward to every episode!!!! I LOVE this program so please continue with this story!!!! I have no idea why tge ratings are so low. Maybe ABC dropped the ball in advertising prior to the start of the show!!!! I love it!!!!!!!
