The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

Unbelievable! Why you have to cancel such a good serie¡ I won’t watch more ABC series anymore because is always the same… I guess ABC audience is more towards people that like to watch dumb shows… what a shame..
ABC made another terrible decision! The storyline and cast are exceptional. Is there another network that can pick up this series?
Bad decision!! This show offers something that no other program offers and my wife and I look forward to it every sunday. Season 2 should happen!!

ABC reacted to quickly. Nothing happens fast enough on the world today and when it doesn’t go our way in the seconds or less we call it quit’s. This show in addition to Quantico give me something to look forward to on Sunday night especially since Revenge went off and Once Upon a Time got boring….At least give us a season two and properly end the series. Tonight’s cliff hanger was awesome sauce

Why??!! The Family was one of the best shows on ABC. Am so tired of networks cancelling great shows and keeping nonsense on television.
I am getting tired of TV. I waste my time watching a new series and it gets cancelled. I am to the point that I e5ill m5ot ever watch a series again. movies only for me and my family. T h is has happened too many times ABC could at least show season 2 and bring it to an end. Or offer a mini series to end it.
It totally should have been renewed! I loved this show and am once again disappointed in ABC! We are getting ready to cut all ties with mainstream media and stick with Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime!!!!!

No! I totally got hooked on this show & hoped all along Adam would be alive! They could do so much with a season 2! How can we save this show???? Try a different night maybe?
Please bring back The Family!! Amazing show, fantastic acting, so suspenseful. It is the only show on Primerime TV I watch. So frustrating to have such an amazing cliffhanger and now we’ll never know what happened ☹️. Also, loved Andrew McCartney in this!!
