CBS has been having a great season. Several of their new shows have been successful and many of their established series are still doing well. Unfortunately, that could be bad news for fans of a little show called Flashpoint.
Flashpoint follows the work of a group of highly trained police officers called the Strategic Response Unit (SRU). The series stars Enrico Colantoni, David Paetkau, Hugh Dillon, Sergio Di Zio, Michael Cram, Mark Taylor, Ruth Marshall, and Amy Jo Johnson.
The show was initially produced for Canada’s CTV and CBS picked up the rights to air season one during the writers strike. It ended up performing well for the network and that led CBS to join CTV in renewing it for seasons two and three.

Season three of Flashpoint was supposed to begin airing early this year but the network has so much successful programming that the show still hasn’t been put back on the schedule.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, recently told critics at the TCA press tour that Flashpoint was now being pushed outside the regular season. That means that the cop series won’t be back until late-Spring or Summer 2010 at the earliest.
While the show has performed well during the summer months in the past, there’s no guarantee that will continue. The show will have been off the air for almost a year by the time it returns. The longer that the show is off the air, the more likely that viewers — and TV executives — will forget about it.
What do you think? Do you think that CBS will air all 22 episodes of Flashpoint? Do you think that being off the air for so long hurts the show’s chance for a fourth season?

FLASHPOINT is a great show, why would you cancell it? Are you nuts? It was a
great show… If this is your idea of good programing by cancelling Flashpoint ~
Then You Should Be Ashamed…
It is one of the best shows on tv.I hope CBS doesn’t ruin that.I was kinda hoping to see it back on the air in May but I’ll settle for the summer especially if they’re running all 22 episodes.
As far as I’m concerned, this is the best show on television. Period!
It is refreshing to have an action show with a real storyline, that doesn’t rely on a lot of blood and gutts for ratings.
Since the first episode was shown on tv, I have enjoyed this show; love the very realistic look inside this strategic unit, along with characters who are people I would like to know, both as their characters in the show, as well as real people. I like the empathy of the officers, their interpersonal relations, well, I guess I just like everythiong about the show. Along with Britain’s MI-5, shown on my PBS station, it was one show I never missed. Please CBS, bring it back!!
Come on CBS, you have a diamond here, don’t sell out now. The talent in writers and actors is profound. Your story lines deals with personal growth internaly and professionaly for these believable characters on each show. This is not your tipical shoot’em up bang bang, cops and robers show. So stick with it. We the viewer are sticking with it. Blessing, Cynthia
When CBS was struggling to find a show to fill the time-slot between Ghost Whisperer and Numbers, I thought they’d finally found a winner with the show Flashpoint. I found myself anxiously waiting to see what happened the next week on the show. The characters draw you in, as well as the gripping story lines. There’s an element to the show that you don’t see in the usual police show, Greg Parker, played by Enrico Colantoni, has compassion for the “bad guys” he seems to truly care about them and tries, with every fiber of his being, to come to… Read more »
this show MUST return. we need to find a way to communicate a strong message to CBS. any ideas?
Bring it back, please. We need “quality” programming – not “reality shows.” Thanks.
I can’t wait to see another season of Flashpoint. Right now I watch every re-run that has been on TV here and there, and even though I’ve already seen the episode, I still find myself on the edge of my seat, literally, and get severe goosebumps everytime I watch an episode. In my opinion, Flashpoint is one of the very best series’ of popular night-time television shows on tv right now, if not the best in my opinion. There is no way that anyone that has had the chance to watch Flashpoint would easily forget about the show and loose… Read more »
YES….”demote” “can” “axe” Medium and bring back a GREAT show. Flashpoint is MUCH more enjoyable a show. Very good stories and very good characters. Please keep it running.
I have loved this show from the first episode. The thing that makes it different from any other “cop” show is that it gives you glimpses into the teams lives and how the cases effect them, not just focusing on the “bad guy.” It’s also a believable program with possible scenarios, unlike the one taking its place now on Friday nights that was kicked off one network only to be picked up by this one. Tell me, how many psychics actually work hand in hand with a police department anywhere and have free run with what they do? None that… Read more »
At first I was all about Hugh Dillon or Ed Lane’s baby blue eyes, but then the writers do this thing with Enrico Colantoni’s Character, Greg Parker. My jaw drops and my brains spill out and I’m stupefyed for the rest of the hour over how a single leader can be so compasssionate towards his entire team as well as the “Subject” in the story.
Please keep this show on the air.Blessing Cynthia
Make it happen guys, we’re out here waiting on the best writers and acters to make our Friday nights come together in a believable police story. We want our FLASH POINT fix. Blessing Cynthia
Please keep this show going – I have loved it from the beginning. The actors play terrific characters, and I enjoy their development, but best of all, I love the storylines, with all the action and human interest behind the action!
