Though Forever has been struggling in the ratings, ABC has ordered nine additional episodes, bringing the first season tally to 22 installments.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner is Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd). He can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out how or why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The show debuted in late September and got off to a poor start, following the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars on a Monday night. It attracted a 1.5 rating with 8.26 million viewers. The following night, in its permanent timeslot, the demo rose to a 1.8 rating but viewership dropped to 6.62 million.
In week two, the ratings tumbled to a 1.4 in the demo with 5.66 million. In week three, they fell even lower and the numbers have been hovering around a 1.1 rating with fewer than five million viewers.
While Forever can hardly be considered a ratings success, the network apparently feels its performing well enough to be given some more time. They may also not have anything better to put into its place.
The show also sees significant percentage gains in the Live+7 reports, an indication that people are watching Forever but it’s not “appointment television.” ABC recently touted that Forever saw an 82% boost in the Live+7 ratings for October 14th — going from a 1.1 rating to a 2.0 rating. That seems impressive but it’s important to remember that all the rest of ABC’s shows (ones with better “live” ratings) also saw big boosts. For example, that week’s How to Get Away with Murder bumped from a 2.8 to a 4.9 demo rating.
In the long run, unless the ratings improve, it’s hard to imagine that Forever will see a second season.
But, what do you think? Have you been watching Forever? Do you think it’s a better show than what the ratings seem to indicate?
please keep this one on. I really love Forever.
This show is so interesting. I like how it links back to other times throughout history that link to the present story.
Please don’t cancel…………I love it…….Keep it!!!!!!! (this is the first time i have ever responded on a show i like, should tell you how much i really enjoy Forever)
🙂
I love this show!!!!! Please keep it on. This is the only new show I watch. I’m sick of all the stupid reality show’s.
It’s an excellent show very clever and keeps me guessing who did it why he and others are immortal I hope they make a season 2 as you tend to keep crap ones and get rid of the good ones ….uk watcher
My husband and I enjoy watching this show a lot. Only one of a handful of new shows that is worth watching in recent years, because of the great acting and very interesting story plots. The show is well-thought out and written. We hope the series will continue for many years!
Please keep this show. It’s fun to watch and it has great acting with a fast paced tempo.
I love this show and find Gruffurd very sexy and appealing. Keep it on !

We LOVE Forever! We never miss it! Hope it is on for a LOOOOONNGGG time to come!!
I absolutely love this show! It has a plotline like no other. It is refreshing to see a new show with unique storylines that can’t be figured out in the first 10 minutes. I regard Ioan Gruffudd as a great actor ever since I saw him in Amazing Grace. He’s sensual but serious. This adds to the mystery behind the character. To cancel this show wld be a great disappointment. I hope it stays on for years, with the series finale being that he finds the answers he’s looking for and gets some peace.
AGREE 100%!!!!
I found that I liked the show quite a bit. I hope it finds a better audience soon. I would like to see a season 2. Maybe a marketing /ad push in the new year would help. SS
I think this show is a refreshing change of pace from so much else that is on ABC or any other channel for that matter. I find the premise and the banter between Ioan Gruffudd and Judd Hirsch entertaining, and I do make sure, if at all possible, that I am home to watch it on Tuesday nights. Much more interesting than watching another tired sitcom or dry detective series with no hook.
Love this show! Too much trash on other networks. Great story and intriguing characters. Keep this one on!!
