ABC is still trying to fill that Tuesdays at 10pm timeslot. Many ABC shows have been given that timeslot and they’ve all been cancelled — Killer Women, Body of Proof and Lucky 7, to name just a few. So, how’s the new Forever TV show doing? Will it break the trend or be cancelled as well?
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner is Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd). He can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out how or why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series got off to an okay start, following the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars on a Monday night. It attracted a 1.7 rating with 8.59 million viewers. The following night, in its permanent timeslot, the demo rose slightly but viewership dropped.

In week two, the ratings tumbled to a 1.4 in the demo with 5.69 million. In week three, they fell even lower and last week’s installment hit new lows with a 1.1 demo rating and 4.81 million viewers.
Just four weeks into the season and this show is already in serious trouble. ABC needs a successful show to fill the Tuesdays at 10pm timeslot and it’s clear that Forever isn’t the answer to their prayers. It’s unlikely that they’ll order any installments beyond their initial 13 episode order.
Will all of the episodes air? I suspect that ABC will release the six remaining episodes — probably before the holidays. The network may find other programming to air in the Tuesdays at 10pm timeslot during at least some of November sweeps however.
Either way, unless there’s a miraculous turnaround in the ratings, Forever is as good as cancelled. It’s yet another TV show about an immortal that will see its life cut short.

11/7 update: ABC has ordered nine additional episodes.
I liked the pilot, but then they went and put it in a time slot where I’m already recording two other shows. I kind of wondered about the wisdom of putting it against those two shows…..
I guess we basically have to smile about the irony of a show named, “Forever” making it into the “Few” slot. Unlike the main character the show won’t spring back to life once it’s gone
I love the show! Please keep it! It’s a fun show to watch an it helps fill an otherwise boring Tuesday night!
Tuesday night isn’t boring, we watch NCIS & NCIS: New Orleans first, then switch channels.

As mentioned in an earlier post, Forever is an almost exact duplicate of a show that had appeared on FOX some years ago. That show was very well done also, but the FOX show, which was much better, only lasted for eight episodes, and Forever will probably suffer the same fate. The problem with the show on ABC is that it does not have the same strong lead-in on Tuesday night, than it had with Dancing with the stars. I know it’s just a mashup of Castle and Highlander and some other shows, but please keep it on! So sick of reality TV and other vapid offerings. Can we just give this a chance to establish in another timeslot? Really like this show.
Why not move Dancing with the Stars to 10:00p and Forever to 9:00p and see what happens. I don’t know about anyone else but I am soooooo sick and tired of those reality shows. And I have found Forever very entertaining and fun. Before outright canceling it – give it a fair chance! Move it to an earlier hour as I mentioned above.
I really wanted to like this show more than I do. It is growing on me slowly but based on the premise I was expecting it to grab me with the pilot (it didn’t).

Forever is one of the best TV shows ever made I can’t even believe it would cancel but I haven’t seen the ratings there good right?
I guess most people realize it’s just more of the same thing that is on now or has been on. I wish the networks could come up with something original.
