Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
In the finale, Abe told Henry to explain things to Jo. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE bring back “Forever” so we can see that happen and watch more great episodes!!!
Please consider starting up the show again! It was one of my favorites. Maybe you should consider not putting it up against other popular shows. I’ll never understand why networks can’t figure this out. Fortunately I have on demand and always watched it the next day. Not everyone has that option. Please bring it back!!!!!!!!!!
Bummer! I was so looking forward to season 2. The cast/acting was great, writing, storyline & plots were superb! I’ll guess I’ll have to hit the old rewind button…totally bummed!-:(

Love the show. Can’t believe it was cancelled. Bring it back!
This is why I end up watching Tivoed shows over and over! I was very, very disappointed this show was cancelled. I though it was a great show, with a unique story line, very good actors, I looked forward to it every week. Very sad it’s not renewed 🙁
Wish you would keep it on. I don not watch a lot of tv but, this is one show I really liked. Please bring it back.
I just learned the show had been cancelled. Major Bummer. It was one of my favorites. One has to wonder who makes these decisions. I had more confidence in ABC to allow an audience to grow as a show matures. Heck, this was one of the most intriguing shows on the air that actually considered that the audience might have a brain.
ABC, I’m truly disappointed that your “Suits” and “Number Crunchers” have no imagination nor faith in this show.
Please reconsider your mistaken decision to cancel the show.
ABC what were you thinking when you cancelled Forever!!! You continue to renew Greys why?
Forever was a fantastic 1 hour drama that I watched with my family. Totally disappointed fan!!
REALLY!!! Agree with other comment. Too much reality, dumb down shows with sex for no reason and vulgarity. This was a very interesting show to stay up for. Great characters and plot. If ending a show that has left you in the dark about what happens to characters, at least have a few episodes in the new season for the loyal viewers to see outcome!!!!
It was put opposite one of the best shows….Person of Interest……idiots !!
It’s unfortunate, my family watched this show all together. It had history, medical mystery, hint of romance, and humor. At least finish the story line…..bummed, and my kids are too.
They should have checked the UK ratings as I bet they were higher as this is a country who loves their Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie type of things.Forever was perfect for lovers of mystery solving and every episode actually kept you focused whereas some series you feel yourself nodding of wondering why it was ever even made. Cancelling Perception was another mistake and it’s a real shame people in charge don’t have a clue what people like, as cancelling these two superb shows prove. They shouldn’t focus on young people as they don’t really care anyway what’s on TV and… Read more »
Give it more time. We need some other concept for TV viewing. Less reality tv
I was disappointed that it didn’t get a second season. I think the viewing preferences of the younger generation has dumbed to to reality type shows, musicalical competitions, and a more base or vulgar vocabulary. Also there is no “steamy” sex slant to the show. King and Maxwell suffered a similiar fate on TNT. The basioc moral fiber of the American people has been declining for years now and it is showing up viewing choices.
Should have been renewed for second season
