Franklin & Bash ended its run on TNT after four seasons in 2014, but one member of the cast would like to see the series revived. Mark-Paul Gosselaar spoke about his desire to revive the series during a Q&A at the Gasparilla Film Festival.
The actor was asked if he would like to see any of his previous shows revived by Netflix. The streaming service is currently working on a Gilmore Girls revival after successfully releasing a revival of Full House.
Gosselaar said the following, according to Cinema Blend:
“I’d love to do a Netflix series for Franklin & Bash. Breckin would be on board for that too. Actually, I’m working with the showrunner, creator of Franklin & Bash on my Fox thing, Kevin Falls, who was on West Wing and Journeyman, and I actually said to him, I said, we have to do a reboot of Franklin & Bash. He’s on board.”
In fact, Gosselaar revealed that he always wanted to series to be produced as a Netflix show or for a cable network like HBO. He said:
“For us, Franklin & Bash, for Breckin [Meyer] and I, creatively was, just not, it didn’t hit the mark, financially it certainly didn’t hit the mark, because we were doing cable, 10 episodes a year. We always wanted to do Franklin & Bash, the way it should be, as Netflix show, as an HBO show. Those characters are too damn good to have been on a cable network where we couldn’t push.”
There is no way to know if a Franklin & Bash revival will ever happen, but Gosselaar sounds excited about the possibility. Currently, he is signed up for Pitch, a FOX pilot currently in development. His last series, Truth be Told, was cancelled after just 10 episodes by NBC.

I loved Franklin and Bash! The writing was great- really, really witty. The actors were awesome and had fantastic comedic timing. They were perfectly cast and seemed like they truly enjoyed what they were doing. I miss them SO much and would so love to see them again.

A fabulous show, would love to see more seasons for sure… love theses guys, they are so awesome witty and fantastic eyecandy to say the least ***
We loved the freshness, sharp-witted young men of f&b. Hate that it was taken off the air. Witty, clean, wholesome. Come on TNT what’s the matter with you?
Clean, witty and wholesome? Yes witty, But they skated the line with what basic cable could do, did you read the article, they wanted Netflix/HBO freedom, the series was pushing to get more raunchy and controversial but Heather Locklear’s Arc and abrupt departure, explained as embezzlement, I’d love to see it renewed by Netflix ,the stunts they could pull in court, they would need to bring back rhee seahorn(who is busy with better call Saul ) and Malcolm McDowell who died at the end(well it was kinda ambiguous) aswell as Ernie Hudson as one of the judges, and the guy… Read more »
I really, thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic between MPG, Breckin Meyer, and Reed Diamond. Was quite surprised to hear it got cancelled
I liked the energy of the first season, which they seemed to move further from each following season. I think the major turn in the core personality of the theme in season three sealed the fate of the show. I’m a huge MPG fan and his dynamic with Meyer was great. I think their thought of the show as a Netflix series is spot on perfect! Would love to see them give it a go.
What an intelligent and spot on critique! It is so refreshing to read a grammatically correct comment from someone who has a great insight into how the show should evolve. Thanks Mary!
I was with the show until they unnecessarily brought on Heather Locklear — who’s great, but doesn’t need to be added to every struggling show.
No joking, this would make me happy. Wasn’t the greatest show, but I always enjoyed it.
