Game over. Nickelodeon has cancelled its Game Shakers TV show, so the current third season will be its last. Reportedly, Nickelodeon and Dan Schneider, of Schneider’s Bakery productions, have decided to part ways. It seems the network will move ahead with its plans for a fifth season of Henry Danger, but the situation with the animated spin-off The Adventures of Kid Danger is undecided (or at least unannounced).
A Nickelodeon live-action sitcom, Game Shakers stars Cree Cicchino as Babe, Madisyn Shipman as Kenzie, Benjamin “Lil’ P-Nut” Flores Jr. as Triple G, Thomas Kuc as Hudson, and Kel Mitchell as Double G. The comedy centers on Babe and Kenzie. After the popular “Sky Whale” app, the girls use to proceeds to start a Brooklyn gaming company called Game Shakers. Since they accidentally, illegally sampled a song by rapper Double G, they make him their business partner and hire his son, Triple G, as a consultant. Together, with their friend Hudson, the whole crew works hard to establish the company as a gaming world success.
Nickelodeon has ended its long relationship with one of its most prolific series creators, Dan Schneider.
“Following many conversations together about next directions and future opportunities, Nickelodeon and our long-time creative partner Dan Schneider/Schneider’s Bakery have agreed to not extend the current deal,” Nickelodeon and Schneider said in a joint statement to Deadline. “Since several Schneider’s Bakery projects are wrapping up, both sides agreed that this is a natural time for Nickelodeon and Schneider’s Bakery to pursue other opportunities and projects.
“Dan and his Schneider’s Bakery team have created a string of lasting, groundbreaking hits over the years including iCarly, Drake & Josh, Victorious, Kenan & Kel and the current number-one hit show on Nickelodeon, Henry Danger, the statement continued. “We thank Dan and his Schneider’s Bakery producers, executives and social media team for their immeasurable contributions to Nickelodeon, and we wish them the best in their future endeavors. And Dan and Schneider’s Bakery are proud of the work they did together with Nickelodeon and will always remain big fans of the network.”
The decision comes as Nickelodeon has opted to cancel Schneider’s latest series, Game Shakers after three seasons. I hear the network intends to move forward with a fifth season of Schneider’s remaining live-action Nick series, Henry Danger. (He also has the animated The Adventures of Kid Danger, whose future is unclear.)
“After three seasons and 63 episodes, Nickelodeon has wrapped production on its live-action series Game Shakers,” Nickelodeon said in a statement to Deadline. “We are proud of the show’s success, and our dedicated and talented cast and crew. Premieres will continue to air throughout 2018.”
According to the report, staff have fired complaints against Schneider for inappropriate behavior. Here’s more:
…along with all his success, for years Schneider had been under a cloud of suspicion over the treatment of some younger stars of his shows. Among the things that have raised eyebrows are his tweeted photos of the toes of his young female stars. Additionally, there have been issues with bloated budgets and long production days on Schneider’s shows.
Schneider has had well documented temper issues for years. I hear there was a flareup last week during a meeting he had with Nickelodeon executives where they indicated to him that Game Shakers was not getting renewed for a fourth season. Sources say that Schneider’s reaction was, at least in part, due to the fact that Game Shakers was about to wrap production on its third season the following day with a cliffhanger season finale, which would leave fans without closure.
I hear at the meeting Schneider also was told that, with his other Nick comedy, Henry Danger, on hiatus, another show (I hear it’s Austin & Ally creators Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert’s new Nick series, Cousins for Life),would move into the production space in the Nickelodeon-owned Burbank studios which has housed Schneider’s series exclusively for the past few years. Sources say that Schneider objected to the prospect of having to share the office and production space with the non-Bakery show.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Game Shakers TV series? Is it ending at the right time? If it were up to you, would Nickelodeon cancel or renew Game Shakers for a fourth season?
I want to see 3 more seasons of Game shakers, cancelling it would just be unfair since Victorious. plus I wanted to see a season finale if it were to end like that
Sooo upset that it’s ending. Love Game Shakers and the cast but I need to know who Babe chooses.
PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER GAME SHAKERS EPISODE!! As Tonya said in season 3 episode 16,” I need closure!” I need closure too and it is unfair to leave us guessing who Babe would have picked.
I love Game Shakers. We watch it with our kids. So funny and I’m not ready for it to end….
We are from Holland and we love Game Shakers. It’s the best comedy!!
Bring it back, I need to find out who babe chooses to date one of the boys or not. Don’t leave the fans hanging like this. Game shakers needs to continue.
BRING IT BACK I need to know who babe chooses. U can’t just let us hangin like this
I LOVE Game Shakers! My grandson and I have watch every episode and we couldn’t wait to see what happened with Henry!
My grandson will be so sad. He keeps asking when he can see what happens.
Such a great and funny show!!
The entire cast is great!!!
Somehow it needs to come back.
Soooo upset!!!
It sucks to end it now wish for a fourth season but I love the show overall and Kel Mitchell was so funny in the show as well
This show is comedy gold. No one can create funny story to tell expect for Dan make us laugh and show every Saturday night. So what I do forward nothing. You writer going to find hard time with new idea of funny person to feel your shoes. Game shaker should continue until the actor and actress decided not to do it anymore.
I think game shaker comedy gold just did as well with ICarly make fun and interest on the story. Nobody can create funny like Dan, that is Huge mistake.
This is Stupid i love game shakers and so do about all the other kids so why end it?
I’m an adult and I know that kids really loved the Game Shakers. While I considered the show to be mostly loud and obnoxious it had its entertaining, humorous and warm moments too. Point in fact, the first season was much better written. Sadly, I think by about the 30th episode the production started to lose traction, or better yet it started to derail like a train forced off its tracks. It was louder and more obnoxious to make up for any lack of originality or passionate writing. Maybe it was about time for it to end. BUT, they should… Read more »
Most definitely have a Fourth season my kids adore this show it’s hilarious!
Although I am an oxygenarian, I have enjoyed Schneider’s work through the years. It seems that they have very slim evidence for firing him. Temper is a side effect of a talent like his, along with hypersensitivity. I will miss his work and expect that he will get a good severance plan. They are desperately in need of more “mature” writers. A case for this is Carly getting her toe stuck in her bath tub, pointing back to an old, less funny , TV Mary Tyler Moore sitcom. Unfortunately many are dying out. Maybe he can move to the Disney… Read more »
iCarly was better written than Game Shakers and each of the main characters had personalities that were allowed to develop and grow. Note that Mary Tyler Moore got her toe stuck in a bath tub faucet on The Dick Van Dyke Show NOT the Mary Tyler Moore Show. I’m a fan of Game Shakers but the Dick Van Dyke Show was infinitely more funny! Game Shakers is mostly loud and obnoxious with little depth to its characters. That’s not to say that it wasn’t entertaining, but I doubt that it will be considered a classic Nick sitcom on par with… Read more »
Big mistake! This show should not be canceled.
