It was a little bit of a surprise that Ghost Whisperer was cancelled by CBS earlier this week. While the show’s ratings have dropped significantly this season, many reported that the TV show was on track for season six. Well, CBS may have cancelled it but the TV show could still continue on ABC.
Ghost Whisperer follows Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt), a young woman who has the ability to see, talk to, and help the dead. Series regulars have included David Conrad, Camryn Manheim, Jay Mohr, Aisha Tyler, Christoph Sanders, Jamie Kennedy, and Kenneth Mitchell.
With the current ratings, Ghost Whisperer wouldn’t ordinarily be of interest to ABC. However, the network co-owns the show with CBS and actually handles the production in-house. They actually developed the series before CBS picked it up back in 2005. If the price is right, ABC would stand to make more money from season six episodes once they hit syndication.

According to Deadline, negotiations for Ghost Whisperer possibly moving to ABC started on Tuesday afternoon and are still in motion. Word is that they are going well though there are a number of points to work out.
It’s positive that the showrunner for next season is already in place and producers have signed on. That means that the show is ready to go back into production. The Ghost Whisperer writing staff have all been asked not to take other jobs until a final decision is made.
For now, people are being cautiously optimistic. Deals like this have fallen apart at the last minute before but things are reportedly looking good. We’ll obviously keep you posted.

Ghost Whisperer is one of the best shows running today.. It has a very strong following and ABC should pick it up for season six..

CBS let ABC know that I watch Ghost Whisperer every week including all the reruns on Ion. It is the only thing like it. The medium is too weird for me. Tell ABC I look forward to seeing the next season of Ghost Whisperer on their station.

I would LOVE for ABC to pick up Ghost Whisperer. I would stop watching CBS and switch to ABC. I like GW on Friday nights, but would probably watch it on another time slot as well. Come on ABC!
I hope that Ghost Whisperer is not canceled. I don’t feel that its finished yet! I love the older episodes and the new! It is a different, romantic show. A real getaway for me. I come home every night from work, search all of the channels that show it, and switch back and forth when they are on at the same time. I don’t watch a lot of shows, just a select few. i would really like to see this go another season and while ratings may have dropped, i think that there are many “loose ends” in the show as is and i think that all of the show’s viewers would like to see those tied up.
Does cbs not want anyone to watch their network anymore. Ghost Whisperer, Medium, Cold Case, old christine gary unmarried? CBS is the only station I watch. Well I guess I will have to start watching some other station. What can I say.alex
I very much hope that ABC will continue Ghost Whisperer, even if it’s merely to wrap the show up. It has been a strong staple in our house for all 5 years. My husband and I watched it together every Friday night. We had a routine that we loved. It’s a delightful interesting and simply fun program. CBS made an error cancelling G.W. It was the perfect lead in to Medium, which is another favorite. Hooray for ABC if they keep it! Bah humbug on CBS.
I never miss Ghost Whisper if it is picked up I’ll watch what ever time slot.

This is my ALL TIME favorite show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ratings have dropped??? Where do these so called “ratings” come from exactly??? Just how do you know who watches and who doesnt??? I have watched EVERY episode, make sure NOBODY calls or comes over when it’s on…yet I dont post or say anything ANYWHERE about any “ratings” about how MUCH I LOVE this show….UNTIL NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
