Lauren Graham, who’s found new success (and a new beau, Peter Krause) on NBC’s Parenthood, has often sounded a bit pessimistic about the possibility of a Gilmore Girls movie. Now, it seems there’s a bit of hope.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Graham was asked about the project’s chances and noted that there’s actually new interest.
Asked if a Gilmore Girls movie will happen, she said, “It might. What’s funny to me is that in all these years, no one ever talked about it except the fans. But now people with power, people who could actually make it happen, are talking about it. I think it could be good, but I wonder if we’ve waited too long. I don’t want to be walking around the town square with a cane.”
When asked if the Sex and the City movies might be a reason to stay away from the project, Graham said that she liked the first one. When asked to speculate about what the storyline might be, she mused, “It’s hard to say because the show was never very plot driven. That is what might be uncovered in a two-hour movie. You’d be like, ‘Wait a minute, they just talk and make fun of things. This is a terrible movie.'”
If you don’t want to wait to see Graham back on screen, you can tune in to the season premiere of Parenthood tonight on NBC.
What do you think? Would you like to see Graham in a Gilmore Girls reunion? Do you think a movie would be worth seeing?
I would love to see a Gilmore Girls reunion. I think it would be awesome to have Lorelai & Luke get married. that would be a great story line! I miss Stars Hollow, all the colorful Characters, and Lorelai, Rory, Sookie, and of course Richard & Emily!! Please Please Please make this happen! 🙂
Can’t you see the deperation in us fans to get an ending for the show, that in a time where crime dramas and reality television ruled the airwaves sat on top as a true feel good show. I think that LG is right it would need to happen asap in order to get the new fans who didnt get a chance to witness the magic but for the fans that every month check for new’s we will be there with our popcorn. I love Gilmore Girls. I think it one of the greatest shows ever written and ASP/DP are the… Read more »
this series took me through a looong recuperation..I watched reruns every day…and now 2 years later I am waching them Again!!!
I yelled at the computer when I saw Loren’s statement from magazine article recently….
Yahoo..Yahoo!! My husband watched too!
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gilmore Girls is — without any doubt — the very best TV sitcom ever made! The writing, acting, direction — absolutely everything is brilliant on the show! I tape the syndicated series and never miss an episode. I agree with everyone here. For heaven’s sake, people, give us, your fans, some closure. Give us a wrap-up movie, please.
make a movie.. the end was so up in the air.. we need to see what happens.. to Lorelai, to Rory and everyone else in Stars Hollow.. you can not leave us hanging like this.. I keep watching that last episode hoping there will be something I missed.. something more..and there never is.. please make the movie..
Ow Yes….please may the powers that be listen to the GG fans and do a follow-up/reunion movie….what is the problem, all the fans want it. There is so much more to say and do ie: Luke & Lorelai , do they get married and their life…Luke’s daughter… Mr & Mrs Gilmore’s response….Rory’s career direction, does she meet up with Logan again, or who..there are so many good characters in Stars Hollow that we want to know more about…but we need good writers as well…I for one can not wait!!!!
There definitely needs to be a movie! The finale was so thrown together and haphazardly tied up loose ends, still leaving so many questions. I WANT MORE GILMORES!
The movie needs to be made. We still watch GG almost every night in our home. When we get through all 7 seasons we just start over. With each new viewing we pick up on more of the excellent writing. We’ve even converted some friends who had never thought of watching the show into absolute fanatics. We miss the Gilmores and all of the zany cast of characters that populated Stars Hollow (not to mention Richard, Emily and Paris).
Yes, Yes…bring it on…..the Movie!
We miss Stars Hallow!!
I would love to add the movie to my collection. I am so glad we have the reruns. Tell us what happened to Rory. Luke and mom get married. What a clean worthy show. Wish the writers and networks could do more tv like that
A movie would be great! It should have never gone off the air. We need to get them back on!
Oh yes this show defiantly NEEDS a movie! It would be awesome! The show could rap up nicely if they did the movie right, and I know its been a while since the show was on, but sooo many networks play the reruns there would for sure be people to watch.
Oh YES, A Gilmore Girls screen or tv movie is in order!!!!! We all want to know if Lorelai married Luke. Who does Rory end up with, Logan, Jess, Marty? Someone new.
I loved that show and I have seen the re-runs a few times over now. Gee Emily should be softer by now. LOL The comedy was great and so so many words!!! Great actress Lauren!!!
Make sure you advertise alot to let us all know when to watch. I even know many guys who love that show. Brillant!! Should have been on prime time.
We need this movie. Gilmore Girls is so much more witty and insightful then the majority of things on television and in theaters today. With the syndication and the dvd availabillity Gilmore Girls is still very much in the heart of it’s old school fans and gaining new fans all the time. I would love to see a movie that could recapture the magic of the show.
