This mystery drama is based on the popular Broadchurch TV show from the UK. The original series was so successful that a second season was ordered. FOX is billing Gracepoint as an “event series” but could it be renewed as well? Conversely, could it be cancelled before all 10 episodes have aired? Stay tuned.
Gracepoint begins when a young boy is found dead on an idyllic beach in the small northern California town of Gracepoint. The tragedy and media frenzy soon turns neighbor against neighbor as the police try to figure out what happened. The cast includes David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Michael Peña, Virginia Kull, Madalyn Horcher, Kendrick Sampson, Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver, Kevin Rankin, Sarah-Jane Potts, Stephen Louis Grush, Kevin Zegers, Jessica Lucas, and Nikolas Filipovic.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically the following morning, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Update: FOX has cancelled this series after one season but…
Final season averages: 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.63 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Gracepoint TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I love this show! Unfortunately I am not able to watch it the same night is on TV , but I have always watched the next day. It is so intense and for once I do not think I can predicate who did it and why like many others shows. Hopefully this will not be discontinued and if it is I hope they play the series on Netflix or online.
I think the show is absolutely fabulous, as does everyone I know that has watched it. I have been on the edge of my seat throughout and can’t wait for the next episode. It is a sad and unfair that it is an antiquated rating system that will be used to determine the future of the series. A sample of 5,000 pre-selected viewers from the Nielson Ratings should not be considered a reasonable sample size for the millions of viewers of today, especially when most of the people I know record all of their favorite programs and binge watch them… Read more »
you need to do a little research and find out how scientific polling is done before complaining about the Nielsen ratings. Pollsters can interview 800 people in five or six cities and tell you within a point or two the outcome of the presidential election 24 to 48 hours in advance. this show doesn’t have low ratings because of an antiquated system, it’s because it sucks, And why are you on the edge of your seat? First, they won’t find the big clue until episode 9 and won;t figure out the killer until ep 10. because any sooner than that… Read more »
right on!
David Tennant’s website is reporting that Gracepoint is going to be moved to Saturdays to burn off the remaining episodes quickly – maybe in batches of two and to make way for Hell’s Kitchen on Thursdays. Looks like Fox finally lost their patience.
Still trying to find out if this is being pulled next week or not. A couple of sites thought YES, others thought possible move to another night rather than not showing rest until non-ratings period. Maybe best to burn off all of the episodes in one go and then leave last one. As posters have said it might possibly scrape 1.0 if only to find out the killer.
not to worry, the ratings will jump back up to 1,0 for the last two episodes as people tune back in to see who the killer is.
I watched this on BBC-America last year. Don’t no why they would remake it so soon. Not only does David Tennent reprise his roll but they are using the same script I believe. Not watching since I know the outcome.
Major ratings drop as expected
so, in episodes 2 through 8, the two detectives will stumble, fumble and bumble around town interviewing “potential suspects” and “following up on leads” that go nowhere. We will get character development of third and fourth tier characters, in other words, actors standing around talking while doing nothing. and of course, a couple of OMG is this THE CLUE!!???!! only to see it fall through. Then at the end of episode 9, we will get a Shazamm matlock moment, where they discover a hidden secret or an overlooked piece of evidence. then in episode 10 there will be a mad… Read more »
The next time you tell everyone what is going to happen, at least do us all a favor and wtiet: SPOILER ALERT. The program will probably only last one season because most people do not have the patience for a developing television show, albeit a good one. What I am tired of is Brits on American television. Before everyone yells at me, my stepdad was a British citizen, and I loved him to death — he was the only person that I called my dad, but there are at least three in this particular program. On AMERICAN television, there are… Read more »
I only have two TV shows I watch religiously during the week, Gracepoint now increased to three! I was glued to the TV and can’t wait for the next episode. I watched it on, ON DEMAND but will watch regular Thursday night airing. I’ve been spreading the good word about Gracepoint, hope it does well! I do have a suspect in mind (purely speculation), but the husband of the female officer who thought she was getting the big promotion. A few reasons why I suspect the husband, but he also rubbed me the wrong way, kind of gave me the… Read more »
Spoiler Alert: Your suspect is the actual killer on Broadchurch. Producers for Gracepoint have already acknowledged that the killer will be different. So, there’s that.
I really enjoyed this one as well. Too bad it has to be about another dead/murdered child. And I also hope they don’t screw w/us and cancel it half way thru!
wake me up when they catch the killer. BORING!
That whole show could have been shown in half the time. Stretching 4 or 6 hours of real show to fill 13 hours of television, again. the networks do this all the time and wonder why these serial dramas/events get low ratings. ( hostages, crisis to name a few recent examples)
probably would make a great 4 to 5 hour miniseries. I’ll wait until episode 13 and tune in to see who the killer is or maybe just wait for the review and save myself the time.
If you wait until episode 13, you’ll be watching another program since this is a 10 episode program. In this instance, this program looks pretty interesting, and I have the patience to wait for the end. I will admit that I binge watch, and FOX is on video on demand.
sorry I missed the 10 not 13. hstages and crisis were 13 last year I think, so I got confused.
I am watching Gracepoint because I am a fan of David Tennant,
and I will continue to watch it because of David Tennant.
However, I did see all the episodes of Broadchurch on BBC America,
and all of the actors and actresses did an incredible job.
The majority of the actors and actresses on Gracepoint are not of
the same calibre, except for David Tennant of course, and
Nick Nolte and Michael Pena. But hopefully the episodes will
improve over time.
I didn’t think anything good was on to watch and just stumbled onto Gracepoint. I was quite surprised that I enjoyed it. A bit different than most shows, even in the way it was filmed. Also, the interior sets actually look like people’s houses, clutter here and the lived in look. And another surprise, a former Dr. Who as lead!
Finally my spouse who dislikes most network shows took a liking to this one, watched the whole hour and wants to see more. That is a recommendation.
Since nothing else was on that held any interest for me, I watched “Gracepoint”. I was pleasantly surprised with everything about it…the dead boy not withstanding, of course. I think this will be a good whodunit.
i really like this show. i love murder mysteries, one of my favorite generes but by the look of the ratings last night not alot people agree with me. i know its a 10 part series and i am assuming it ends with us finding out who the killer is. i hope so i hate shows that drag on like that, like pretty little liars. its in the 5th season and we still don’t know who “A” is. but i have watched this far so i am sticking with it just to figure out who “A” is. but as far… Read more »
