This mystery drama is based on the popular Broadchurch TV show from the UK. The original series was so successful that a second season was ordered. FOX is billing Gracepoint as an “event series” but could it be renewed as well? Conversely, could it be cancelled before all 10 episodes have aired? Stay tuned.
Gracepoint begins when a young boy is found dead on an idyllic beach in the small northern California town of Gracepoint. The tragedy and media frenzy soon turns neighbor against neighbor as the police try to figure out what happened. The cast includes David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Michael Peña, Virginia Kull, Madalyn Horcher, Kendrick Sampson, Nick Nolte, Jacki Weaver, Kevin Rankin, Sarah-Jane Potts, Stephen Louis Grush, Kevin Zegers, Jessica Lucas, and Nikolas Filipovic.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically the following morning, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Update: FOX has cancelled this series after one season but…
Final season averages: 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.63 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Gracepoint TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Please renew for another season. The plot, storyline and acting is superb!
Love love love the show
Gracepoint is a 10 episode series. Last one to air 12/11/14.
It’s been a good series. Hate to see it go.
There can be no real surprise as to why this has failed so badly (far too many red herring, poor pacing, ridiculous inclusion of slo-mo and soft focus which would embarrass a first year film student, distracting music, often risible dialogue, lead actor with unconvincing American accent which renders it impossible to buy his role, wildly veering acting otherwise with wooden performances from some (Michael Pena, Anna Gunn, David Tennant) and over the top by others (Kevin Rankin, Jacqui Weaver, Nick Nolte, mad hiker man)). The parents at the centre were extremely unsympathetic so there was nobody with whom the… Read more »
Uh Huh. LOL.
Those “dead end” story lines are probably central to the resolution–i.e., Tom got lost while he was trying to find the hitchhiker to frame him because Tom is the killer. Vince is totally different from his counterpart and the reason, I think, is he was having an inappropriate relationship with Danny… there were lots of clues hinting at that throughout. The notion that David Tennant is wooden is absurd. The character is over-emotional and explosive. Anna Gunn’s yes, for the most part, was wooden. Michael Pena’s is nuanced, and he seems fairly typical of a lot of guys I know.… Read more »
Yo mercy seat hope you aren’t in school for film directory…or acting. To say that this is an epic fail is like saying you know what you’re talking about. Maybe you’ve been surrounded with too much fast paced horrible reality TV. And I’d hate to listen to your choice of music. Some people like mysteries man…I think you put way too much time into criticizing a show you hate? But then again what do I know? Im just a regular old tv watcher with no degree in filming :p
I love it! I hope they are allowed to finish all 10 episodes!
Love this show. A great mystery with good writing and some tremendous performances; one actually cares and become invested in the character’s lives unlike some other shows I could mention. A shame if they cancel it.
Excellent, excellent show. Fox should have moved it to another night as competition with ABC on Thursdays is formidable – but that doesn’t mean this show doesn’t deserve a shot on another night. We need more TV like this.
Love this show! It unravels slowly with interesting character development and an intricate plot. I guess it’s too slow for the attention span of the average network viewer.
Honestly, I’m tired of comic book characters and glorified night-time soap operas where, if you wait long enough, everyone has an affair with everyone else.
Did gracepoint come on last week?
No, it was off for the holiday. It returns tomorrow and ends next week.
Love grace point!!! Defiantly continue!!
I can understand why Americans wouldn’t like Gracepoint – it’s an incredible story with subtle driven characters. This doesn’t tend to sit well for the masses who prefer a more direct and obvious storyline with boring character archetypes. For some of us however, Gracepoint isn’t just one of the most intelligently written series that has come around in a long time, but also boasts an ensemble cast of highly talented actors who should be getting more Emmy buzz! *sigh* Sadly the masses have spoken so it’ll be back to some dopey crime-scene or emergency room drama that seems suspiciously like… Read more »
